What is the BEST Trike conversion?
Hello
Suffered a minor stroke a year ago and have been unable to ride my 2011 HD Ultra Classic bike due to continuing lack of confidence in balancing issues for riding. Cant afford a full conversion i.e. ( Motor Trike, Roadsmith). Looking at a Trip Trike conversion or a Richland Roadster conversion. any info from anybody who has either conversion would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome from New Mexico. I have a friend that had a voyager kit on his ultra classic. He complained about it not being that stable. I know a guy that has the landing gear system on his ultra classic. He says it is top notch for him. Still rides like a bike but has the support when stopping and taking off. Jim

Check out California side cars conversion. A bit pricey but you get every bit that it cost and more . Customer service is the best and my trike rides like i am riding my recliner. Handles better than the Hd trikes and few others i tried before making up my mind. Give Rodney at Trikes by Rodney and he can answer all questions Honestly. Just my 2 cents. Booggereb
Riding with a Voyager trike on my 2003 Road King
In about the same shape as you however, I just got old (69) and I am just not too sure of balancing the big bike, and the wife, and the gear anymore. However, I still love to ride. I couldn't swing a new TriGlide or some of the other very nice full trike kits on the market, and I didn't want to lose my motorcycle for when I go riding alone. So, a convertible unit was for me. I found a used Voyager taken off the same bike as mine for $1500. Cleaned it up, painted it, and installed all new grade-8 hardware that I purchased at Tractor Supply Company. Put new bearings in the wheel hubs and new bushings and through bolts on the suspension forks. The unit is really easy to negotiate around town and me and the wife fit just fine. If you go this route, pay particular attention to bolt tightness (i.e. THREAD-LOCKER), pre-load adjustment, and take the time to experiment with pre-load, tire pressures (both bike and outrigger tires) to find what works best for you. For instance: I set up my Road King with 1.5 inches of pre-load, 40 pounds of air in the rear tire on the bike, and 18 pounds of air in the rear shocks on the Road King. I put 18 pounds of air in the outrigger tires and the rig rides and tracks really well.

sorry for you health going south. let see trike kits there are many out there and I am sure they all that there good points. I when with the champion kit. big trunk, not cheap but seems to be a good kit. but like I said there are many out there just look around.
When converting, a good idea is to find a reputable dealer NEAR you, find out what brands he deals with, then decide. In my case the dealer is 18 miles away - about 20 minutes to get there. My guy was most familiar Motor Trike, did the job in 3 days, and I've been very satisfied ever since. Best wishes to you...

I use the Voyager kit. I did my homework and checked out the available kits.
I asked those who already had the kits and found out likes/dislikes.
In the end, I bought the Voyager.
I have put on over 10 thousand miles on it since with no problems.
It also makes it easy for my wife to drive as she is not that tall and the wing is
large and heavy. She loves it.
If the wife loves it, it's a happy life for me.

I've had 2 Champion trike conversions, Goldwing and the present Road King. I have no complaints. With any conversion I believe it's the installer that is most important. Good luck on either way you go.
