    Default kit exhaust system

    what is the general opinion of the exhaust system that come with the frankenstein kits. I am mostly refering to the FL type with the s bend pipe and the little 16 1/2" muffler, I will be unable to use what is on my bike as a two wheeler and the exhaust that was sent seems more the size for a sportster than a big twin, I worry about the power loss, I sure they sound just fine (maybe) I do not run open pipes I use screaming eagle mufflers on a stock exhaust system, they generate more power than drag pipes even if using torque cones at exhaust port on head. Could some of the riders on here running the kit exhaust for FL bikes give opinion on these little mufflers .

    Default kit exhaust system

    I usually play with Sportsters but am building a Street Bob trike . The Street Bob now has an S bend rear pipe . The system now has 2 completely separate pipes and mufflers not connected with a balance tube between the front and rear pipe .

    What are you concerned about ? The S bend pipe or the 16 1/2" mufflers ? The S bend in the rear pipe makes both pipes equal length (pretty much). The total length of the system is what counts , at least with Sportsters it does . Unless you have a 'built' motor you should be fine . Sportsters (usually) run best with a total length of 38-40" system and the bigger bikes do need a little bit longer system .

    Most people change out the mufflers to get a better sound out of their scooters and usually because the bike sounds louder and has a different tone they assume that the bike is faster .

    There are always a lot of opinions on exhaust systems . All I can say is try the system out or make a call to Frankenstein and talk to them on your concerns or wait for others 'chime' in on what they are running .

    I just looked at the Frankenstein Trike website and now see what the 'S' pipe you are referring too . The pipe should be OK and as far as the mufflers did you try and use your mufflers that were on the bike ? You would probably have to make your own mount for your mufflers. On my trike I replaced the whole system . I am not using the Frankenstein Trike Kit but my setup does use a solid axle .

    I thought the 'S' pipe you were referring to was the header pipe , 'My Bad' .

    There are a few Frankenstein Trike builds here and am surprised no one has helped you yet . Did you look on YouTube for some ideas on what else is available ?

    I was not able to use my stock pipes either and used the same kind that Frankenstein offers but in black. They are Vance and Hines and the fit and finish are excellent. I changed out the baffels at install to the quiet ones V&H offers. I don't know what the original baffels sound like but these have an excellent deep throaty sound. From what I have read they are not much quieter than the stock baffles, just deeper and removes any blat sound. if you go with the quiet baffles keep in mind they sell them individually. Why that is I have no idea, but after opening the box and my jaw dropping, I had to order another. They aren't cheap either but worth it in my opinion. I didn't notice any power loss.

    my motor is not stock, I run duel mufflers because most pipes you get with out mufflers sound good but you loose to much power, I had mine bike on dyno tune machine with both types of exhaust, stock exhaust with screaming eagle mufflers and some changes to baffles made it sound good and no loss of power, baffles are not the type that can be removed I cant even remember how we did it, but no drag pipe type exhaust for my bike. I go for power and work to have good sound also, I don't like the tinny sound you get with most baffles.
