On my bike with a warm up engine my oil was checked on the jiffy stand NOT upright. So after the trike kit it's always upright. I was not thinking when I did this.
I just changed all 3 before the kit was added. Just something to think about.

No fowel, use a turkey baster with a hose extentions if it's over filled. All good

Why would the oil be too high when you have the bike in the up right position.....

Just clean it good before putting it back in the kitchen for the wife to use next.Thanks that a great idea.
I ended up getting Mary a new one, since I could not clean it to her satisfaction. Now I have one permanently in my shop.

I never could quite understand why they call it a 'Jiffy' stand either, my mind does wonder over to Jiffy Cornbread/Muffin Mix also. It could be an 'Iffy' if'n you don't make sure it is locked forward when the bike is parked on it.Mr Davidson must of been on schrooms that day . The oil level will be higher on the dip stick if not on the sidestand. Yeah, I can't call it a jiffy stand either and I still call it a crash bar not an engine guard. I leave 1 rear wheel on my driveway to get the angle as if on a kickstand when I check oil level.
checking oil
If it was my trike I would find a bike without the trike kit and check the oil level when warm and with the correct amount of oil in it, then I would stand it straight up, see where the oil level was on the dipstick then mark that level on the trike dip stick then you would be set
Just changed the oil and filter on my 2005 FLHTC Lehman trike.
Owner's book says 4 quarts.
Factory shop manual says 3-1/2 quarts.
I put in 3-1/2 quarts, checked it hot. Comes up to within about 1/4" of the top full mark, with the dipstick oriented to drop straight down with the plug pushed all the way in.
