    Default Bees

I was riding down the HWY yesterday doing about 65-70

All of a sudden my neck hurts I knew I got stung

I raised my arm to swat the bee and another one went into my armpit

I shook around like crazy trying to get it out then another one hits my other arm.

I stopped and pulled out one out of my shirt but did not find any others

Ended up getting stung in the left arm pit, neck and right arm
    Thank you
    Bob

In the last century , [70's] I was riding with just a T shirt, And it had a pocket on the left side...Well a bee got in the pocket and stung me... At first i thought i got shot, I was lucky to keep the bike upright, So i pulled into a parking lot..And i guess because the sting was close to my hart it took almost a half hour before i could stand up and get back on the bike... Two stings probably would have cause me to drop the bike, Or call for medical help...

We keep Benadryl in bike, cars, home, etc. just in case we get clobbered by one or more of these. I had one come through my 1500's windshield vent and hit me in the throat several years ago. That will wake you up!

Got a yellow jacket up the left pant leg while riding the ultra classic. Doing about 85 down the interstate, you should of see how fast I stopped and dropped the pants to get that joker out. I had a serious lump on the back of the thigh. Jim

Back in the late '80s, when I was a teenager, I was riding through town, and it felt like I got hit with a bullet in the upper left chest. I was only wearing a t-shirt, so the bee got the full effect of stinging me.

Man this thread brought back that memory like it was yesterday!!

There is nothing worse than riding smack into a swarm of bees. Been there, done that going to and from Sturgis several times. Makes me wonder if there isn't a national bee convention in KA that time of the year.

Long ago I was cruising over the 610 Houston Ship Channel bridge when I felt a sharp burn on my arm. I looked down and all that was there was a wet spot and a stinger.

    That is correct.

Try some Florida riding adjacent to any of the millions of acres of citrus groves.

Ah, where to start. Been stung in the lip right under my nose, stung in the chin, stung in the chest (wasp), stung in the wrist, stung in the crotch, and the worst was a large wasp that stung me in the neck on a road trip (riding a friends custom bike at that). The next day my neck was swollen and I couldn't turn my head - had to ride home that way all day. Recently hit a swam of bees. Looked like black hail. Ducked down and made it through without a sting! Now I just wonder how riders do that ride with ape hangers and T-shirts or tank tops. I cringe at where those bees/wasps will go. Ouch!

Totally agree. And it seems I'm more sensitive to stings each time I get one.

A lot of it has to do with the meds we are on as we get older. I wear a full mesh jacket now.I don't care how hot out it is.

Hogcowboy. Thats the way it was for me. I got stung could barely breathe. Went to my doc he said it would be worse the next time. Went to allergy doc, tested the only bee I didn't have a reaction to was the honey bee. Went for shots about 3 years. Now it barely itches if I'm stung. See your doc he may prescribe an eipen for ya.

Im lucky i guess, I haven't been stung by a bee in years, Yellow Jackets yes... And been bitten by Wasps...I do notice that i rarely see Bees any more, But there are more Bumble Bees around than ever before....Also i don't know if theres a correlation here, But the Bats are almost nonexistent also' At home and at my club in NY...

Maybe I'm lucky but so far Benadryl seems to save the day. I've rear ended two honey bees in the last two years. Just enough that they sting and get stuck. Getting pulled over fast enough that my wife who's on her Spyder can take my knife and scrape the bee and stringer away is the hard part. With the tears streaming back and making seeing hard. I started carrying two Benadryl with me all the time. Once again I'm luck because I can swallow pills dry. Or with what spit I can muster up. Before I started doing that my face on which ever side would start swelling up making it where I had to breath through my mouth because it affected my nose. I've truly considered the Epipen but just don't think it's that severe yet. If the Benadryl stops working then I'll go see the dang quack doctor I have. I say quack cause we get the bottom of the barrel for doctors out here in the sticks where I am. All docs want the rich city slickers so those spots get fill with the top of the class.
