You have come to the right place to ask...We love our trike it has been trouble free for us and a great ride and tons of fun. You must understand the 09 have a 32 tooth pulley on the front on transmission, 6th gear is not of much value under 70 MPH. I have not made the change yet to a 30 tooth but plan to in the future. Heat is a subjective thing you can see by my signature line what I have done to make it run cooler and hopefully longer. It's whatever you can effort or want to invest regardless Triglides are a ton of fungood luck in your venture.

welcome aboard. Just FYI the cat is there just in the muffler on the 09. The heat off the header is pretty much the same down to the cat in the later models. Then the cat is hot down at the bottom. Some dont mind it others do.

2009 was the first year for the factory trike. There were some bugs that needed to be worked out. One that has been mentioned was the final drive gear. Once I changed mine to the 30 tooth the trike was a whole different animal! Trunk seals were worthless at first but Harley finally found a fix for it. They even changed the rear breaks before the model year was over.
So is it a "good one". Well they were not bad. I put 70k on mine before trading it in on a 2015 FLRT.by now any bugs yours had should have been worked out.
