Hi everyone. This is our first trike. Lot of differences from my 06 BMW K1200LT!! Taking little to get used to.

Can anyone tell me the best place to look for accessories for my new 02 GL1800 Lehman trike?

How do I tell if it has the triple tree retro fit on it?

Are these decent Trikes?

What should I look for for problems?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Can anyone tell me the best place to look for accessories for my new 02 GL1800 Lehman trike?

There aren't many accessories dedicated to the trike kit part of your ride. There are a few on the Lehman site. For the original motorcycle part of your ride there are many places to get accessories for Gold Wings like Cycle Max, Wingstuff, Big Bike Parts, Add On and many others. Most of the aftermarket companies that sell Gold Wing stuff usually have a few things for trikes, and many other parts can be adapted.

How do I tell if it has the triple tree retro fit on it?

If the upper tree is aluminum silver, it is most certainly equipped with a rake kit. The stock trees are black steel. You can also tell if you compare it with a standard 'Wing. The fender will be closer to the cowl if it is stock, and if it has a rake kit the front fender will look rotated up and back a little.

Are these decent Trikes?

Lehman is one of the first conversion trike makers. They are now part of Champion. They did, and still do, make very good trike conversion kits.

What should I look for for problems?

Most problems with the Gold Wing part of the trike were probably sorted out before it was triked. You can search GL1800 problems on the web. Here is a link for the Lehman fourm on this site:

Welcome to Trike Talk from Vernon, VT. I am not a triker...yet... but will be someday.

First advice I would give you is do not ever use Energy Conserving oil in the GL1800. You have a wet clutch and the additives in that type oil will screw up your clutch. If you see Energy Conserving in the little round circle where the oil ratings are don't use it. Myself and lots of other GL1800 riders use Rotella T6 full synthetic oil which you can find at Wally World or almost any auto parts store. Do not be afraid that the SAE rating is 5W-40. That only means that when the temps are freezing or below the oil will still flow like a 5 weight but has the protection of a 40 weight. There are many very high mileage Wings running that oil with no problems....mine has 114,000+ miles using that oil almost exclusively. That's not the only good oil for the Wing, but it does make the transmission shift real smooth. Just make sure it is not Energy Conserving oil.

Your choice here, but I see you don't have the Baker Built Air Wings upper and lower deflectors. Put your hand down where the air gets blasted out of the radiators and you'll feel why your shins and knees are feeling quite warm. Those deflectors cure that problem.

Ride safe and maybe we'll connect somewhere along the way someday.

Now that you are riding a GL1800 trike you'll have to learn that thing they call waving....something I don't see many Beemer riders do for some reason.
