30 day notice

I just got a 30 day notice from work yesterday.

I have been working at this place for 10 years

They are giving me a severance and I thought that was great then I found out about 40% will be going out to taxes

That sucks!!!!

They want me to train the remaining person to handle what I was doing.

I don't want to burn any bridges but I just don't like the idea of training someone to take my job.

Not sure how I will handle this yet

Make sure that you have a good written reference letter signed by the employer on company letterhead.

Also be sure the reference letter is to your liking.

As for training your replacement, you will have to tread the waters carefully and use good discretion. If you are going to look for gainful employment elsewhere, a well written reference letter is invaluable.

Been there ;Training/ Teaching a Competitor, And did it just like i would want someone to train me....Thats how i learned my Trade..Someone taught me when i first started out....

That said, I was in a very close [Small] Industry...And you don't burn bridges, Cause you might need them again...You have to search your soul and do what you know is right..

The company I work for has policy that forbids any employee to give a letter of recommendation or act as a reference

I know several people that are still going to let me use them as a reference but cant mention the company name

Bob I'm sorry to hear what they are doing to you. The same happened to my dad after 28 yrs with his company. To add insult to injury he had to train his replacement...but he was cordial about it but underneath he was a fuming.

Same for myself being passed up for promotion and then asked to train my new boss

Regardless I believe you have a wonderful gift and skill set that will serve you in the long run. God Bless, and good luck.

As far as the 40 % going to taxes, I suggest you max out your 401K or an IRA for the year. I did that when I received a large sum at retirement and saved a bunch of money. Depending on your age I think the max to contribute is about 10,000 and 10,000 for your wife, talk to a tax man if you know one. At least it is still your money, not the thieving gov if it goes into an IRA. Good luck to ya!

Its not his fault and I have grown to like him over the years

I don't think he can do the job but I will help him if I can

At first I was upset, Hell I am still upset but it is what it is

I am making him and another co-worker a hatchet as a departing gift

I have been getting into my boxing lately. Maybe this will give me more time to do this for a while

I think I will make some rebar art (for the lack of better words) I have some request from people for different things

The Dog cost me about $300 or so to make. Not sure I could get much more for it.

Getting drunk tonight and taking tomorrow off

Will be a good night of Beer and Boxing

Your sr man at what ever you do, and your getting 86th with severance pay ( that's because you were aprechiated) you are to train someone under you to do your job, the co. You work for is not folding.

i don't understand unless your making a ton of money 💰 and they have someone who will accept less 💰?

I hate to hear that no one wants to be unemployed.I have been lucky,not to say I havent been layed off during slow times but I have never had to train my replacement.At my age I would tell them to pound salt and go on unemployment then after it ran out I would go on SS.I dont know you but you seem to be talented,so with your skills you will find something better.As one door closes another opens.Best of luck to you.

I believe where we are right now is where we are supposed to be. I was moved, replaced, job abolished and fired from a position, crazy thing about it was that I always wound up being in a better place each time this occured. Jim

yesterday was my last day.

I have been working on my resume and Linked in profile a lot this last month.

Been doing some training also

Now looking for a new job

I have eye surgery next week and will have black eyes so cant do to much until that is over
