    Default Clutch Issue 2010

    Hi everyone long time reader 1st time poster, got stuck today in major traffic jam heading up into mountains today & while bike wasn't overheating (LoveJugs & Ceramic Exhaust) the clutch got a decent workout. Cut a long story short found once off the mountain the clutch now starts to slip once i apply the power. My question is this clutch now stuffed & requires replacement, If so is there a heavy duty clutch available thanks

    And yes their are heavy duty clutch's available , And i'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in soon with the info you need...

    Cool

    I am not sure if your Tri has a cable clutch or not but if it does a simple clutch adjustment may fix it.

    see if you can adjust the clutch first. How many miles on the 2010?

    You may have to replace the discs? But try an adjustment first.

    I believe you have a cable clutch too. That has to be done at the same time as the clutch adjustment unless you feel its ok.

    Trike has 56000klm (35000 miles) believe its original clutch will try adjusting but little concerned as we are going to be pulling a small trailer in near future.

    is there a heavy duty clutch available asking here as Trikes aren't sold in Australia in great numbers with Dealers having little knowledge on their set up.

    Baker Clutch's..... Google it....J and R Cycle sells them....

    First shot is to adjust and see how it goes...but sounds like you may have glazed the disks.

    If that is the case (an adjustment does not fix it), then all you need is to replace the disks and get a strong clutch spring....I am pretty sure the cost for the stronger spring is in the $35 area.

    In fact, if the adjustment does not fix it, I would try just a stronger spring first, as long as there is still good material on the disks.

    I would definitely change out the primary fluid right away.

    btw, ceramic pipes and Love Jugs are not enough to cool down a 2010 Tri-Glide to get it into the optimum operating temps.

    the extra plate clutch kit works pretty well with a heavier spring. Good Luck

    Had the same problem on my 2012 model and I was pulling a trailer.

    Get the info you need from Mr. Wizzard. He knows his stuff. I followed his advise with a 1+ clutch, Hayden chain tensioner and a Clutch Wiz. After a few years, my 2012 is doing just fine.

    I would never use a Hayden Chain Tensioner ever again.

    Baker makes a nice tensioner
