Default Still not sure I like this thing.

    Greetings all,

I made the mistake of taking my wife with me to the Harley store and came home with a 2017 Tri Glide. She had wanted me to get a trike several years ago, I rode a 2013 TG and totally disliked it. The 2017 is much better, but after 300 miles I still miss my Road King. I'm hoping I adjust soon. If I make it until October I'll take the Trike class at the local HD dealer, maybe that will help.

Joe it took me close to 800 miles before I felt comfortable on my Roadsmith trike. For those first miles I was asking myself what have I done. Now I love it and am glad I had my wing triked. Give it a few more miles and I bet you'll love it.

    to TT Joe!

It takes 500-1000 miles to get comfortable operating a trike. Empty parking lots doing ever tighter and faster figure 8's will help.

Welcome To Trike-Talk Joe......If its the hard ride of the trike is what you dislike... Then a Trike class worn't help much on that. Just calling a spade a spade....I been riding Street Trikes for 9 years now, And when anyone asks how do they ride i just tell them ; I haven't missed hitting a Pot hole with it yet.. I still keep a Two wheeler in my Garage for the two wheeler feel.. But only for good weather and local rides..

    Hey Joe,

to Trike Talk from South Florida.

Just hang in there as others have said. Everything will become more comfortable and natural in a short time.

Remember to keep a relaxed grip on the handle bars.

Give it a chance - going from bike to trike is quite a change. Here is a link to a thread with some great info for newer trikers:http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threa...ike-Great-Info!

Welcome from just down the road from you! If there's anything I can help you with just let me know. A trike does take some getting used to. Give it time.

Here's my story....I've put 4300 miles in the last 2 years on my TG. Just now is it beginning to feel 'natural' to me. Could be because I've rode on 2 wheels for 40 years prior. I very much missed my 2 wheel baby for over a year. Not so sure I'd go back now, even if I was able.

    Just give it a chance.

Welcome to the three wheel world, sooner or later something will happen and you will say at least to yourself "glad we were on the triglide" sorry you miss your road king. I would probably miss it also. travel safely fred

Welcome to the forum from Madisonville and to the strange new world of triking! All advice above is good, especially playing in parking lots. Give it a little time and you will be trying corners just to see how it feels when you get close to the edge, the edge of tipping that is!!!!! However take it slow and really get use to it. Just remember you are wider in the back so give things you go round a little more room. Go out to Bandana or some lonely straight road and drive close to the center line and get a feel of where you rear wheel is, I did that and used my left grip as a reference point looking down at the center line. It gave me the security that I wasn't going to swipe a car!!! Enjoy and I may see you around 4 Rivers.

Greeting Joe from Southeastern Tennessee! I am still relatively new to the trike world myself and it is a totally different experience. But I would not go back to 2 now that I have developed my comfort level on 3... Give it time and I'm confident you will feel the same.

Like every body says "give time". Bout 10 years ago I dated a young lady with MS. There was no way she could do any distance rides on a 2 wheeler. I bought a Spalding sidecar so she could enjoy the road with me. Guess we put some 20,000 miles on that rig before the rose withered on the stem and we went our separate ways. She just didn't want to saddle somebody down with the demise of her body and mind. Another story.

You want a challenge, push a side car down the road on high crowned roads....OMG!! Any way that experience helped me down the road when the medical challenges of Parkinson's forced me to a tricycle. I've still got a couple 2 wheelers (1 being a '62 Moped) in the shop that I'll NEVER be able to ride because Parkinson's robbed me of my balance. You're lucky if you can still ride 2 and have the option of 3. I'd ridden and raced 2 wheels for some 64+ years before being forced, if I wanted to keep riding, to move to 3. Yes, I miss it. This will be my 36th year to RIDE to Sturgis.

Just give it time....it'll grow on ya.

    Default Give itTime

Dealer road test =hated it. Rented for (500 plus miles)=not bad at all. Bought and have over 8000 miles on one ,love it ,would not go back. At 68yrs of age I have been riding over 55 years. Took me over two years to decide. Best thing I did at this time in my life. I guess what I am trying to say is, you have to get some miles on it before you really get to know about them and then the fun begins....just like it was when you are 16....
