I would think a dire belt would be like replacing the timing belt on some cars at 60k. You might get away without doing it, but, it might leave you stranded somewhere some day. Around here ... there are lots of wide open spaces with no people and some with no cell service ...

To many this is GOLD Standard. To me this is baloney

I have replaced alot of belts that could have gone longer

Ya got to think back to the primitive belts, they were leather and they took a beating

A belt breaks on a bike your stranded.......A timing belt breaks on a car engine your stranded....And needing a new engine...

The 50k service includes the belt change. Labor intensive on a Trike. Also consider replacing the rear belt pulley, as I have seen them cogs wear out. It's only aluminum, and ya got a 1200 lb thing with a rubber band constantly wearing out.

Im sure others will disagree, but it's info I must pass on.

Attempt to turn the fastener using a torque wrench set to the minimum torque specification for that fastener. If the fastener does not rotate, the fastener torque has been maintained. No further attention is necessary. If fastener moves, tighten to specification. 7. Disassemble, inspect, lubricate and adjust every 40,000 km (25000 mi). 8. Replace or have rebuilt at 80,000 km (50000 mi). 9. Perform maintenance more frequently in severe riding conditions such as extreme temperatures, dusty environments, mountainous or rough roads, long storage conditions, short runs, heavy stop/go traffic or poor fuel quality. 10. Attempt to turn the fastener using a torque wrench set to the minimum torque specification for that fastener. If the fastener does not rotate, the fastener torque has been maintained. No further attention is necessary. If the fastener moves, clean all locking material from the threaded hole. Replace the fastener with a new one or clean the original fastener threads and apply the appropriate locking agent (see appropriate procedure). Install fastener. Tighten to specification. 11. Always check lug nut torque within 805–1,610 km (500–1,000 mi) after wheel installation. 12. Disassemble, inspect, rebuild forks and replace fork oil every 80,000 km (50000 mi). 13. I just looked at my owners manual on my 17 Tri-Glide, And let me tell you ,I hate looking at owners manuals, But you's guys made me look.....The 50 thousand service says ''check and adjust drive belt''......Does not say to change the drive belt.....

Good Deal, Alot of cars and trucks are now non interference engines. In the old days NOT so much, in other words when a chain or belt breaks the valves would and did kiss and bend costing y'all lots of moolah If y'all want to spend the moolah send it to me LOL Bad JU JU happens to all that wait too long or neglect a noisy and not adjusted belt y'all ride safe and smart
