A Tale of Two Trikes, Goldwings That Is!

Recently while reading Trike Talks Forum I saw an ad for a Ky Blue 2012 Golwing 1800, CSC Viper Trike with 6000 miles and warranty until 2020 for sale. I got to thinking "I bet I can sell my 2006 Goldwing Motortrike and up grade to the 2012 for three thousand or less. I called the owner and we worked out a deal. I then set about to put together the logistics for a 1500 mile round trip to pick up the 2012 and get it safely home. After getting it home and setting in my recliner recovering from the trip the phone rang and a fellow in my Goldwing group said he would like to stop by to look at the 2006. He came the following day and bought it. I made my goal of stepping up 6 years and 17,000 less miles for 3 thousand dollars. I'm getting use to the new to me ride and so far I really like it. The CSC with IRS makes a big difference and I appreciate all the answers to my questions regarding CSC. Here are photographs of the old Wing and the new Wing.

That seat looks exactly like my Tom Simmons seat right down to the color. I've had his seat on two bikes now and it's like riding while sitting in my recliner.

Could you explain what warranty you have? Thanks

Reason I ask is before I triked, I checked with Honda and was told, basically, adding a conversion pretty much voids any warranty on items affected by the conversion. Meaning the drive train as a whole!

It would be up to me to prove a failure was not due to extra "stress" caused by the conversion!

The other concern, at the time, was the fact very few dealers are set up to "work" on trikes.

Decided to convert anyway and have never had a break down!!!!

The PO purchased extended Honda Protection Plan good until the purchase date in 2020. It transfers to the new owner with no charge. The way the Manager of Honda of Florence, KY explained to me is the warranty covers the entire bike except the trike portion. He said they evaluate on a case by case basis if triking the bike is responsible for a part failure. He said usually they cover engine and transmission problems. An example was a fairly new GW in the shop with a bad alternator which was being covered by warranty.
