Default Suggestions for installing fender Bra on CSC

I have a set of fender bra's for our 2012 GW1800 Viper trike. The lady at the order desk told me I would have to loosen the ground effects/floor boards to install the bra. Any comments or suggestions?

The bra's came with snaps which get pop riveted in the fender. Any suggestions or ideas would be welcomed.

Not what you want to read but, send them back and go see a LineX dealer for a thin layer of gloss color matched or contrast coating.

The fenders bras will eventually ruin the paint!

Before you send the Bras back, please review the video on the web page for "Bras for Trikes". I ordered mine from them, received them and in about 1 hour, installed and really look great. Did not have to loosen the running boards or anything. I mounted mine with the bottom of the bra just above the running board. Hope this helps.

Theres a new style and a older style. When I had my trike built the guy told me that he installs the old style. Reason they snap on fender and do not go under the ground effects. Now I can easily remove for cleaning and waxing. The way you tell them apart is the lettering on them. The new ones look like this " cSc, the older ones " CSC letters all the same style. You can see their cut to go around the ground effects. Also they come with a soft felt under them. If you just keep the paint waxed, I have not noticed any scuff marks on the paint. I also bought a bra and same thing no scuff marks, just keep it waxed....

Here is a pic of mine....old style:

For installation, you might consider either taking them to a trike dealer, or another option is to have them installed at an automotive upholstery shop.

If you are mechanically inclined, running boards are not difficult to remove ... but more a PITA, time consuming, and can be cumbersome. Most likely the tools needed are: m/c floor jack, once jacked, a way to keep the trike 8" off the ground, a creeper, 7/16" short 1/4 drive socket and ratchet, a 7/16" combo wrench, a 9/16" 1/4 drive wobbly, and a 12" extension. Once off the ground 8", use the m/c jack to support the running board. If you have cornering lamps, you might have to disconnect the wires to those. Up front and under the valve cover, look forward and you will see a 9/16" bolt head to release the running board from where it attaches to the front crash guard.

Depending on your design, sometimes I charges as much as 4hrs labor to remove and install them. Since bras are usually aligned by eye ball, make sure your trike is sitting level from side to side ... since no body likes a lopsided

As others have said, bras ruin paint. For a longer shine, bras must be constantly remove and the mating surfaces cleaned. Then prior to installing the bra, the painted area under the should be waxed to help protect the paint. Any trapped dirt will work like sand paper.
Please keep in mind that anytime I share or give advice about a motorcycle, unless I state otherwise, I am always referring to GL1800's and no other.

I take that you have looked at the installation video on "Bra's for Trikes" web page. He shows how to install using a Sharpe, masking take and possibly a friend to assist in hold the bra. I installed mine with the help of a friend and it was done in about an hour. They came out looking great and there is no logo on his bra's. We are planning to have it done later.

No ... sorry. I was making the assumption that the person who told him that the running boards had to come off knew what they where talking about.

My trike had the Fender Bra that was mounted between the Ground Effects and the fender. Not paying any attention the first time I washed my trike I started to removed the bras and noticed they were captured and couldn't be removed. What a croc! I really didn't like this. I removed the bolts from the rear of the Ground Effects allowing me to remove the bra. A trip to the local upholstery shop and he cut around the impressions of the runner boards and sewed a new border on. 10 minutes and $10.00 and I was headed home. Put new matching snaps in corner areas of bra & corresponding area of fender. I had a little concern of fastening the Ground Effects directly against the paint of the fender thus I picked up a couple feet of stair runner. Actually exactly the same stuff cSc uses as the foot pad area on the Ground Effects. The continuous roll kind you can buy in any length you want. It cost .10˘/ft. at the local Home Depot. Mounted this between Ground Effects & fender then trimmed to fit. Being able to remove bra to wash & wax is a plus for me.

Great idea. I was already thinking about doing this and now that I know it can be done and works I'm almost certain this is the direction I'm going to take. I have an upholstery shop close by that can do the work and am going to check with them tomorrow. I'll post the results.
