The 2 tires listed are complete opposites. I believe the bt45 is a bias-ply and in almost all situations, a radial will give a better ride and performance. Also, most run the bt45 backwards so handling and braking in wet weather will affect its performance when it's wet out. The Avon is specifically made for trikes and will be the better of the 2 in almost all categories.
Please keep in mind that anytime I share or give advice about a motorcycle, unless I state otherwise, I am always referring to GL1800's and no other.
The "AVON COBRA TRIKE" tire is my choice also.
Wing with Roadsmith kit, Traxxion Ak20 cartridges and Accuride System.
07 ST 1300 for two-wheeled fun!
I have a BT-45. Rides good and with 14K hardly worn.
Just sayin...

Im probably the only one here who doesn't like the Avon.
Id rather I had gotten another MPA.
Rears on the front are just different. I liked the ride better and wet weather braking of the a rear on the front.
Put on the Avon and I feel like I have a plain old regular bike tire back on the machine.
I don't care for it.
Avon Cobra
2002 GL1800 with CSC trike kit
The "AVON COBRA TRIKE" tire is my choice.
Another vote for the Avon Trike Tire !
Avon Me Too
18,000 miles and tire has little cupping. For this hard ride front these are the only tire for me.
Some people don't pay attention to ride noise or anything.I know a guy who had a new rear put on , leaked and ran the chords breaking out.
Didn't have a clue riding GL1800 2 up 2 wheeler with baggage.
I got 15,000 miles out of my first Avon Trike Tire at 41 psi on my GL1800 Roadsmith. The first tire didn't require any weights for balance. The tire wore evenly and had no cupping, unlike the two MPA's I used on my GL1500 CSC Trike. The new tire I'm using beads . I will keep using the Avon until something better comes along.
Avon's trike tire is my choice too! Only way to go IMHO...
"I don't need a map. I still have a road in front of me!"
Avon for me, 16,000 miles on it now and probably another 1,000 miles to the wear bars. I have no complaints, it's a great tire.
I average 30,000 on MPA'S. 41#
