I have an 07 Suzuki C50/Lehman, bought brand new in 07.

It's not a bad "starter" trike, but comfort depends on your size, how/where you ride, etc. I went with the C50 for the same reason as you - to "try" triking before investing a lot of money. I have now spent 3 seasons wishing I'd gone with the C90. I ride highway to work (49 miles each way), and I can feel mine sluggish at times. I can keep up with almost everything I'm around, but it does feel like a struggle at times, almost like it wishes there was a 6th gear. Here in New England - pot hole heaven! - the straight axle is a bit rough too. I'm about 150lbs, 5'5", so it fit & general comfort were fine for me (I did add risers, although I rode them one season without & I was ok)

There is a low speed head wobble, but mine goes away at about 30+. Until about a year ago, only the C90 had a damper, to the best of my knowledge (and I had called various Lehman dealers to ask).

And reverse for this trike is not an option from any manufacturer, period.

The trunk? Yes, definitely a joke!

Weird V-shaped opening makes it difficult to put much of anything into it, although I HAVE managed small groceries etc, when necessary. I've even managed to put an overnight bag into it. Unless you only wear a beanie, you won't be putting a helmet into it, that's for sure!

Overall, I enjoy my trike but I can tell you in all honesty that as soon as I can find some money, I'm DEFINITELY "movin' on up"!! I should probably mention that this is my first bike/trike - I rode as a passenger a couple of times in my teens, and nothing until 2006 MSF course (I'm 50+ now).

I have a 2008 C50 Lehman Tramp. I ordered a steer damper for mine and installed it my self. Takes the wheel wobble out I have a batwing fairing and damper was a must ProudTexson

we picked up an '06 tramp for my wife. She is not very big and it seems to do well for her. Now granted it can not get anywhere close to my 1900 roadliner in performance, but she is much happier on 3 wheels then on two! Not alot of power out of the 800cc but it cruises well even with both of us on it. and the cost was the breaking point....no where near the cost of a big bike conversion.

Due to a stroke that I had in 2009, my wife and I went to a C50 trike, Lehman Tramp, and we love it. My wife weighs 110 lbs, I weigh 165 lbs, and we have no problem with power. We ride it in the hills of southern Ohio effortlessly. We get great gas mileage, about 45 mpg on average. We also were concerned about power because of all we'd heard from other people on trike sites, but it really hasn't been an issue at all. Yes, the trunk is small, but we put a Road Glide tour pack on the back and bought the new add-on passenger seat from JP Cycles, which widens the rear seat by 12 inches and makes for a very comfortable ride.

We paid $10,000 for it back in '09 and it had 1500 miles on it -- a great deal and we are not sorry at all for this purchase. As for the head shake, I was told to run 32 lbs in the front tire and 24 in the rear to give a smoother ride and it works very well. The only time we ever get the head shake anymore is if we run over railroad tracks or a big bump.

I have a Lehman Tramp C50. I love it. I am not a touring type rider. I am 72 years young and it allows me to enjoy still riding. I normally ride solo. If I rode 2 up it might be a little light on HP. I installed A Fi2000 Fuel controller. K&n filter. It helped it alot. Also drilled the baffle plate and knocked out first baffle.

    Runs great and sounds great.

I currently have a C-50 with a Trigg Trike Kit installed and have logged about 5K. miles on it. The bike handles well and I have had no problems with the kit or bike. I am planning on a spring trip to New Mexico for the real test.

I have a 2009 Lehman C50 Tramp / VL800 and love it for what it is...a nice little day cruiser. I've had zero problems with it and get a lot of positive comments about it from other folks, riders and non riders both.
Although I am a pretty conservative rider and content doing the posted speed limit most of the time, I've had this trike up to 110 mph on short bursts and its completely stable at this speed.
The trunk while small, will hold a six pack of soda or the Sunday paper and some bakery as well as smaller extras. Its kind of like a giant glove box and that suits me just fine.
I can make it from Phoenix to Tucson on a full tank barely, so I wish it had a bigger tank.
The only criticism I have is that the gigantic Lehman tailpipes are just way too quiet and I have yet to find a viable replacement that is louder. Also, the clearance between the top of the tail pipes and the fiberglass body is too minimal. I have a small chip in the fiberglass where the pipe has banged into it after I accidently took a speed bump way too fast.
No matter what model a person rides though, there is nothing better than being "free on three"!!!

I have a 2008 Tramp and I have not had that problem of Pipes hitting the fiberglass. Mine seems to have plenty of room between the pipe and body. Can you loosen them and move them away from the body..

Thumbs up Re: Suzuki C-50 Trike

I brought home my very low mileage 05 C50 with Lehman tramp yesterday...I read this entire thread before I bought it and felt there were enough positive comments that I had no fear of buying it for MY KIND OF RIDING...I ride solo, am 77 years old and will not be riding on extended trips due to wife's ailments and caring for her....my 75 mile ride home after buying the bike sold me on the fact that this is just the trike for me...plenty of power to get my 180 lbs down the road and it rides comfortably and steers easily...Oh, it has a nice top case so there is plenty of room for storage..

I considered a magnificent 07 BMW 1200LT with a hannigan (I think) trike...the owner had just about $40k in it and would have sold it to me for $20K....13K miles...thing is, $20K is a lot of bucks even if it was a screaming good buy, but I am not in a position to take any extended trips, so 3-wheeled Caddie or not, it is a moot point..

To each his or her own..Regards,

    Bob

Great glad to hear u are out in the wind. I have. A 1500 gold wing. Unless I am pulling a trailer or riding 2 up I may use only 1/2 the power it has. 90% of the time I am just hauling that big motor around.
When I am gona fix something I will fix it. You don't have to bug me every 6 months.

    Default Re: Suzuki C-50 Trike

As i understand the C-50 is equivalent to my 03 Volusia 800. Bought mine in
Dallas so i flew out from Fort Lauderdale and rode it back. Went up to Leesburg
for the Bike rally and just came back from doing the Myrtle Beach Run. Am
usually running 70 up to 75 on the freeway. Rode it 13 hours straight up and
then 13 hours straight back. She can go 80 MPH but that's getting quite a bit
of vibration at that speed but all in all she is quite nice. i had a Harley Triglide
and have to say i actually like the Volusia better.Am getting 120 miles to the tank
doing 70 MPH but when you crank it up faster then one starts to lose the gas
milegae. i am 5'2" and 140 and it's a great size for me and light enough that
reverse isn't needed.
    It's all about the journey.
