A friend of mine installed it on his Ultra. He figures he lost about 20% signal on his am/fm. Was enough to keep me from putting it on my tri. Around here, 5 miles outside of town you need good reception. I've put Sirius XM on every bike for just that reason.
I think if you were more in populated areas, it would be fine.

I just ordered a "shorty" antenna from Amazon to see how it works (and cover a dumb mistake.) 25 bucks, I figure worst case it will protect the threads.
I went with the hidden antenna because I hated the one sticking up in the back. 2014 does not have a CB so only one shorty. I listen to my music on my iPhone if I listen to any so long distance reception was not a concern.
2014 Big Blue Pearl / Vivid Black, 1.5" Lift Brackets, Street Cannon Mufflers, 10" Wind Splitter Windshield, Daymaker LED Fog Lights, Passing and Fog Lamps work on both High and Low Beams, BAL-1R Rear Taillights, Dunlop American Elite Rear MT90B16 (34AE92) on Front turned backwards, Dynojet Power Vision Turner, De-Cat Headpipe just for a start.
Those whips were a pain in the ass, always in our face, in the way, etc. I got some shortys, still in the way.
When I changed handlebars, I routed the new clutch cable wrong where it goes by the radio, inside the fairing. Broke the plug end on the antenna cable, couldn't find just the plug end, no Radio Shacks any more...
Rerouted the clutch cable, and since I needed to get a new antenna, I got the hidden unit from H-D, it was cheaper than the whip antenna. We're in Seattle so reception is fine. I don't know if the Kuryakyn one is any better or worse.
If you're in the middle of nowhere, no antenna will work, that's when you plug in your phone for tunes...
Looks a lot better in my opinion without those whips, and the overnight cover is way easier to put on!
Firewrench22,
Thank you for the comments . . . yes, they are in the way.

Tried the HD internal antenna and lost quite a bit on the CB...the AM/FM no real problem. Pulled the HD unit out and put in a Dakota Digital AM/FM internal antenna I had laying on the shelf in. CB now operating off the external antenna again. Only reason I put the digital in is I'm still thinking about pulling my tour-pack off for around town and don't use the CB in town so wouldn't have a need for that particular antenna.
