520fd, the J&S TRIKE JACKS that were made before late 2016 were made with the "extended arm" on the LEFT hand side of the jack if you were standing behind the jack, and you used it from the RIGHT hand side of the trike. With the introduction of the 2017 bikes with the M8 engine there was just enough difference in the area around the crossover that J&S had to make some changes to the jacks for the 2017 and up models. Part of this change required them to move the "extended arm" to the RIGHT hand side of the jack and you use it from the LEFT hand side of the trike. I wish they would add a new video of the jack being used from the left side. Most all of the pics and video still show the old model being used from the right side of the trike. When I ordered my Trike air model back last November/December I had to wait about a month or so before it shipped because they were just getting all the new parts designed, built and painted. However, it is my understanding that they make a kit for the older TRIKE jacks to move the arm to the RIGHT side and it will work on the newer model trikes.
Also, there was several people in the forums that reported they were actually able to get their older model to work but they had to be very careful when lining it up under the trike. If you are buying a "used" J&S trike jack you want to make sure it is one of the newer models or you will probably have to buy the conversion if you plan on using it on a 2017 and up. The people at J&S will be glad to explain all of this to you and help you. I have owned two of their jacks over the years and they are good people to work with. BTW, they also make an adapter kit that you can install in about 5 minutes to use the trike jack on regular 2 wheel model HD bikes. As I said, talk to J&S. I do not profess to be an expert on J&S jacks, and I have been wrong a few times in my life, but my wife doesn't know that. Hope this helps.

I just got back here after reading another post about the J&S trike jack. I guess this was a while back that this happened. My BAD. So if I buy a Trike jack from someone other than from J&S, Will that one work? Or do I have to get an updated part? I should give J&S a call before I purchase it. I have a line on one on another forum. Just wandering. Thanks for the update.
Basically on the TRIKE J&S jacks, IF standing at the back of the jack, the ARM that raises up with the provided lever is on the left side of the jack... it is one of the older models and will work fine on HD trikes up thru 2016 models, and is designed to be used from the RIGHT side of the trike.
IF the ARM is on the right side of the jack, it SHOULD be one of the newer models and is used from the LEFT side of the trike. It is designed to also lift the 2017 and up models. It can also be used on the earlier year trikes.
However!!!!!, call J&S, talk to them and tell them what the used jack you are looking at looks like and let them advise you. My J&S jack has a plate on the rear that has the SN stamped in it. If the one you are buying has this, J&S can probably tell when it was made from the SN.
