I have been having problems with broken front fender rear sections, I have been using Kuryakan fender extensions and suspect that the added length may be the issue, has anyone had these problems or have any suggestions

Are you using the correct fasteners ... there are different shoulder lengths and can cause issues if not in the right spots.
In link below explains why it happens, and how to do a full inspection for all the damage that can occurs. It also suggests using an extension that is much shorter and rarely causes fender breakage ... anything longer, and fenders can break.

I've had the same issues. Never will I use fender extensions again. They might keep the cowl a little cleaner, but not worth buying fenders though.
Both myself and a friend of mine had the same problem. Like has been said I won't use one again. I didn't see that much good with it anyway
After having this problem myself I've posted twice about my thoughts and opinions on this. In my situation My fender extension had the rubber bottom thus hitting a curb or dropping off a slab and hitting back portion of extension probably wasn't the culprit.
Just out out of curiosity the ones of us who have had broken rear fenders what year was your bike/trike?
Moderator if you feel this is Hi-jacking this thread feel free to do what ever with it.
I hope this gets to everyone that's replied, Thank you for the info, I have been using the correct fasteners, taking care not to over torque etc. My gut feeling has always been the added length from the extension creating undue stress. I agree with DWATC and FRR I won't be using them again I would however like to have that added protection does anyone know of an aftermarket fender that has an extended length? and by the way it's an 08 with a Roadsmith conversion.
I have heard of riders using a front fender off of a shadow and over laying it on their stock fender. Using very short screws to fasten it and then fiberglass it to blend in like it belonged there.
Use the Hondaline one. They're the only one specifically designed for a GL1800 by the engineers that design the bike. Anything longer and they will eventually break a fender.
