    Default Can't stand the thought of owning an "orphan"

    The next 6-7 days are a real nail biter in terms of finding out what the MOCO has been plotting for the 2018 Tri Glides. Having owned a 2016 and migrated to the M8 2017, I am hoping that I did not buy an "orphan" in terms of the frame, suspension, etc. I know that the MOCO has to keep moving forward to maintain market share but I sure hope that whatever changes they make are evolutionary as opposed to revolutionary for Harley like IRS.

    Careful what you wish for .... IRS could mean big $$K in your future ... but I think your safe ... If i was a betting man, and I'm not, I'd say that MOCO is on the three year plan ... However ... Having said that ... A CVO Trike could be on the horizon .... ... now we're talking big $$$

    IMO The MOCO will surrender NEW info on the Dyna line

    The M8 will be the Big News again

    I do not see any MAJOR changes to the Touring line cept higher prices{ LOL}

    YES {I do believe} Indian will step up MAJOR this year to try to regain market share

    The MOCO had best IMO pay attention this time OR it will be up to the share holders to sell the Company now while it is still solvent

    JMO and I hope I am not the only one that thinks this way, or I too will jump ship to an INDIAN

    Default Indian for 2018

    Jack,

    I looked up the 2018 offerings for Indian and they have added two models which are variations on existing themes. Does not look like a particularly good time for motorcycle manufacturers to be betting the farm on too many new bikes. As I talk to some dealers of various brands, there seems to be some resistance from consumers to buying new, large motorcycles. I would not want to have a huge debt load and be in the motorcycle business right now. I would not predict that the sky is falling but the overall financial recovery has favored the folks that are already well off and has seemed to bypass middle-class America where the volume comes from.

    Indian is still building their dealership network to my understanding, Remember how GM tried to distance them self from Saturn. I think Indian has the green light from Polaris also I think the public did NOT welcome the Victory partly the Ness influenced line like the Bean counters wanted. Indian on the other hand already has its name in history, the sad day in 53 that our dads and grand dads talked about when the factory clised its doors. Harley had a cash cow 4 too olng JMO

    Their Iron frame bikes were great, The problem was people walking into the showrooms couldn't get past the George Jetson looks of their big bikes The only reason i got past Those Jetsons bikes and seen and bought the Gunner is because my Harley dealer also sold Victory and Polaris ...And at some point Indian will run out of nostalgia buyers [Heavy Valance Fenders] And Polaris will pull the plug, Their money makers are in power sports....

    I agree, I do believe this was the plan all along

    Polaris is SMART as hell in the fun sports IE Snow machines and water craft

    That said when the recession is over Polaris will cash out Indian and walk away Good Business move IMO

    PS I am formerly from MN, I knew some folks that took it on the chin due to lay offs @ Polaris, I hope that Polaris recovers good and puts AMERIKA first again I misspelled AMERIKA 4 a reason I am sure I will get some blow back 4 it I am a proud American

    I just got back from Sturgis a week ago. Riding in the hills, I saw a lot of the Indian bikes there. They're very nice bikes. Everyone I talked to, seem to love them just as we Harley riders love ours.

    Now I might be wrong but I think SEADO was a Polaris product. I do know they own OMC (Evinrude/Johnson) Also I was told that Indian gives a $1,000 discount if you are a vet and that Arkansas is the place to buy one. Now that is what a new, (paper plate) owner of one told me.
