2014 TG tires(again) and brakes

I have 2014 TG 20000 miles replacing front tire again.

Looking at front brakes trying to decide if I need pads at what point do I need to replace?

I read someplace here 4.5 mm for front and 5.9 mm for rear which confuses me I really don't think when new they were that thick.

And the brakes have always worked very well.

Help help

My HD 2016 Trike Supplement Manual Table 1-10 says Brake Wear Limit Specifications:

Friction pad thickness front .040 inch Rear .040 pad thickness. (1.02mm) This is the friction material thickness above backing plate. That seems pretty thin to me!

*****CAUTION***** When I posted earlier the above info from the trike supplement, I didn't have access to my 2016 touring models main manual. After checking it tonight on page 1-41 it states that the minimum recommended pad thickness is .016 front and rear.*****

This is a little confusing unless they want the Trike to have a thicker minimum? Any ideas? I don't want to give bad info.

Are you saying your on your third front tire in 20,000 miles? When you say your replacing it again, I am assuming you have already replaced it once which would mean this is the third front tire.

I just replaced my original front tire with 17,000 on it. Cant say as I have ever replaced a front tire with less than that mileage 2 wheels or 3 wheels.

My front was crap at 14,000. I went with an Avon Trike tire. Made for the front. EBC full sintered brakes all around. Several on here are doing well with the Avon,so I will try it. (41lbs in front) Avon chart not Harley. Wondering if that caused the uneven wear ?? HD still telling 36 on the front, on a trike that is heavier than a 2 wheel ??? using the same old "block design tire"

I'd really like to know if the front tire of a TriGlide has more static weight on it than a 2 wheel Ultra? Sure we weigh more .... but most of that weight is at the rear. I seem to be able to "skid" a front tire more easily than my Ultra buddies. Anybody got access to those scales the truckers use?
