All I could possibly add Amen brother!!! Travel safely FredWe left Friday for Natural Bridge Ky for a 3 day weekend of riding. Most of the bikes are within 5 years old and a couple evos thrown in the mix,my buddy has a 2002 dresser that he just had a CSC trike kit installed.so we get within a couple blocks of the motel and he breaks a throttle cable, well he idles on to the room.
Now this about 5 PM so at 9 AM Sat we start making calls and find a Indy shop that has one that will work.So two guys go after it and 3 of us start getting the bike ready. After installing it we have a good day of riding.
So this morning we get ready to leave and the 94 dresser wont turn over, dead battery. So we remove the seat, and guess what ,yep loose cables ,both of them.As luck would have it there was a Napa just down the street,so off they go again to get a battery since none of us had jumper cables. So new battery installed fires up,air cleaner is about to fall off so we take the cover off and the three screws that hold the filter to the backing plate(Screaming Eagle stage 1 kit),there is one missing and two are loose. Then the guy says yeah i knew the battery was getting weak but i thought i could get the rest of the season out of it.
Moral of the story ;do a pre trip inspection,if you dont have the ability to do it yourself get some one to do it for you or help you.And especially if you know your bike may not make it stay home.In both of these cases these issues could have been caught before they left. Now I know you cant see everything and sometimes **** just breaks. Okay i'm done.
