Bel-Ray is now producing a fuel treatment that also increases octane. Might be very handy for those areas where 91 octane is not available. You get the ethanol treatment and an octane boost.

The old timers would add a Qt of Auto Trans fluid to the first full tank of gas on a new car to seat the rings....40's/50's...Did it work?.. They thought it did... Back then the manufacturers used a brake-in oil...[Green]..In the crank case...

A friend of mine in our HOG chapter swears by mothballs in the tank.
HDBOB, I've never worried about 91 not being available. I never used it in any of my vehicles, Vettes or Harleys. I do now on occasion because I've gone to a higher Stage Kit, but on a stock Harley = never used anything but 87. Never had an engine problem.

There are a lot of things out there that people use because it works for them. I used syn oil in a new car in 1978, I wanted that car to last forever. Mobile 1 had just been put in the dealers. Well I had to rebuild that engine at 40k miles. Was it from the oil or was it just a poor quality auto engine? I didn't use syn oil again until 2003. Jim

I used Mobile 1 5-30 wt oil in my Ford truck even though Ford specified 40 wt. One morning it lost a cylinder. It'd stopped with an exhaust valve open after a long run on the interstate and the spring pressure had bled the hydraulic lifter all the way down. So when I turned the motor over to start the push rod fell out. Then the cylinder fired but didn't exhaust so the intake pushrod bent and fell out too. So who do I blame - Ford. Mobile or the loose nut who didn't follow the manufacturer's instructions?
