About 3 months ago i started having idling issues with my 17 Tri Glide, once i would pull up to a stop with the clutch in it would bounce between 1100 and 600 rpm's.So i took it to my dealer and they said that they did a upgrade download on the ECM,all was well until maybe 3 weeks ago when it started again with a new twist,it would shut off.So back to the dealer again.
I took it in this past Monday and the tech called me today(whom i have known for more than 20 years and has a very good rep) and said that he cant make it repeat the problem, said its has been idling of and on all day.So I asked him did you ride it because that is the only time it acts up,he said no because it has been raining.
Well got a call from him about an hour ago and he said guess what as soon as i rode it it acted up,now in his defense the service writer didnt write it up that it had to be ridden. So according to the factory, the clutch safety switch is faulty and as luck would have it they dont have one.He will be on vacation starting next week so i will go get it this Sat.I asked him if it was a simple job to replace and he said no it runs inside the bars so the fairing and bars have to come off,but the good news is its on Harley's nickle.
