    Default Tri Glide trailer?

    Good morning all,

I am picking up a new to me 2015 Tri Glide monday, my question is,

After shoulder surgery a week ago I need to use a trailer to pick up my new trike.

I have a 10 ft long X 5 ft wide utility trailer, will the Tri Glide fit on it?

I only need to get it home and wait for my shoulder to heal.

I looked up the specs, and on paper it looks like it will fit.

Any responses are welcomed, I do not have the ability to ride it home and it's a 2.5 hr drive to the dealer to pick it up.

    Thank you!

Man, that would be very close. Your bike is about 9 ft long.....not much room to have a chock up front, and for a 2.5 hr. ride...I'd like at least a cheap one up there and ya still have to close the back door. Width...maybe even closer....Tires are Aprox. 50" wide without the fenders so about 56" wide. Leaves you 2" per side. You better have the puppy tightly bound brother....two Inches is not a lot of wiggle room. My thought would be renting a larger trailer....some shops have trailers for rent....U-Haul of course has larger trailers, but watch out for ramp clearance. Maybe a shout out to your local HOG chapter for assistance? I have one...But TN is a bit far....Good Luck

It will fit.....Just strap [Use ratchet straps] the back down from the strap hooks under each rear shock. And put a strap though the front wheel, Careful not to hit the front rotors...Also put a towel or heavy rag between the wheel and the strap so the strap doesn't mar the wheel... And just to add check the trailer tires make sure there good to go...And after a few miles stop and recheck the straps...Almost forgot Have the dealer put the trike in trailer mode, So you won't have a dead battery when you get home..

Thank you for getting back to me on this,

I would hate to get there and find it won't fit.

It's not the best solution, I'm trying to borrow and friends trailer that is a little bigger

If you are going for it......be sure to tie down the rear by crossing the straps. That will help to keep the back end from bouncing side to side.

    I brought my Triglide home in a 7' x 10' flatbed tilt trailer. I don't think I would put one in a 5'wide trailer.

That's just to close on the width for any error at all loading and the ride home hitting bumps and chuckholes.

In my mind, what you paid for the new to you trike, is worth borrowing or renting a bigger trailer.

Not only is your 5x10 not suited or setup to carry your trike, those trailers including mine tend to wiggle when getting close to 50 mph or above.

The whole thing is not worth it. If you put one good ding or crack one of your fenders, you will wish you did what was necessary to get your new trike home safely. Having the correct trailer will minimize all those nasty things that could happen.

Good luck in what ever you end up doing.

This trailer is 10' long and the wood the trike sits on is 5' wide. The wheels are right to the edge of the wood. I had to angle the ramp back to clear the tour pack. It will fit but you won't have any wiggle room. Strap it down well. If you have sides on your trailer, be careful of the fenders hitting them. The rear body is a $3k replacement part.

If it were mine I would not use a 5' wide trailer. It is just too close. A minimum would be 6' wide and that is still close but would probably be OK if strapped down tight so that it could not move side to side. You don't want to damage your new to you trike! Rent or borrow a bigger trailer.

Well for one thing, your not ready to do any lifting, pulling or anything with that shoulder. I've had both of my shoulder's replaced. So don't go and tear something. Have a friend do it for you. As everyone has said, get a little bigger trailer.

I have a 6 1/2 x 10 trailer and my Tri Glide fits with plenty of room all around. If you set the trailer up with 10 to 15% of the load weight as your tongue weight and make sure that your trailer is level and not running up hill,it will be stable.I have never had any issues yet.And if you run car tires on the trailer you may have some wiggle because the side walls are not stiff enough.JMO.

Well I used our shop trailer to bring it home.

The guys at the dealership loaded it for me and strapped it down.

Our shop trailer is 7' wide x 20' plenty of room in that one.

the dealer would deliver, but it was going to cost about $350 because of the distance.

I can't wait for my shoulder to heal so I can ride it!

Glad to hear you found a solution to the Trailer - Take care of the Shoulder.....better to let it heal just the once....keep us up to date.

I hauled mine home on a 5 x 10 trailer. It has sides on it, and I had about 2" clearance on each side.
