    Default lift kit

There is a fellow trike rider with a 17 that had his trike taken in for a drive belt that had sheared about 4-6 inches of teeth off the belt.He is on facebook trike chat, just seen a post that HD voided his warranty claim on the belt that had 2400 miles on it because it had a lift kit installed.

On my 15, there was no issue with the lift when my belt picked up a rock and was replaced under warrantee. I'm wondering if the lift was installed improperly and somehow stripped the teeth? I'm thinking we need lots more info.

    Default Lift Kit

I'd like to hear more information on this as I was considering installing a lift kit. I'd be interested also on anyone that's installed a lift kit, and how it's improving handling and overall ride.

Like everyone else I'd need more info to evaluate the issue. From what I've seen here dozens. maybe 100s of owners have installed lift kits with no problem, mechanical of from H-D so ???. I'd add that when I was wrenching there were 'furrin car' dealers who would deny warranty work then collect from both the customer AND the manufacturer. Not suggesting that any H-D dealers do that but ...

Most of not any dealers would even notice that the lift was installed, unless the owner mentioned it. Wise man say ; " Keep Your Trap Shut "

They would notice as some of the new kits have 2 sets of mounts to accommodate all years (the M8s are different).

Some kits are powdercoated in colors (not black).

My bad didn't realize they came in colors or even were in cast ? I guess having it red is like red brake calipers. Don't know about trusting the cast one

Sometimes a worker will notice something, Call the Boss over and say look at this, Then its up to the boss to say shut up and just fix it, Or he can Red flag it...

Man, CNC machines are getting better....adding casting codes and dates to a machined part. I'd bet good money that these lifts were cast.

    Default warranty

Why wouldn't Harley void the warranty for installing a lift kit. It wasn't on the bike when new, It changes the geometry of the bike. In my opinion Harley has every right to void the warranty

Ok i sent him a private message and asked him to join our group because more folks want info, said he would. So i will copy wait he sent me.I asked him why would the shop tell the factory it had a lift kit.He said,I'm not sure they did, they told me IF they tried to warranty it that Harley would kick it back for more information or send a rep to check it out.

So i asked if they would put his stock shock brackets back on so HD could look at it and they responded NO.So sounds like to me that the shop were he bought it from isn't wanting to help the guy out.Instead they said they could install a new belt for $750 parts and labor. He said that they have him between a rock and a hard spot so when he gets it back he will no longer use them for anything.
