Harley Trike Muffler Swap

I think I have found an easier way of changing the mufflers on Harley Trikes, once you get the old ones off

I put 5/ 16th studs in the rear holes of the mufflers

I found this easier to align them and easier to turn a wrench on than a bolt

The front bolt is not bad to start

With the stud in you can massage a flat washer a lock washer and start the nut with your finger tips, then tighten it up

Sounds like a good idea. I am going to try it next time. Getting the rear bolt started and tightened is a pain in the rear (no pun intended).

I tried flipping the rubbers and mount brackets also, this makes starting the rear bolt easier, however it puts more strain on the mufflers IMO the height changes albeit just a bit, but that is all it takes to put a bind on the exhaust and cause a ringing harmonic

The stud IMO is easier 4 me, it may not be 4 everyone

I looked at this from a lifetime of turning wrenches

I have just about every 1/2 wrench u can imagine

I just used mine the other day to align the headlight on my trike. Been setting in the drawer for years
