Default HELP ... please identify accessory

Can anyone identify the maker of this light bar and where to get a set ???

There is one on each side. This is a 2007 GL1800 Champion solid axle kit.

Please keep in mind that anytime I share or give advise about a motorcycle, unless I state otherwise, I am always referring to GL1800's and no other.

My guess is that it is not really a bumper, but an assist handle for a 4 wheel drive or big rig truck. You may want to try a truck stop or truck chrome shop. They have a lot of lights there cheaper than a motorcycle shop and some unique ones. They do list a light bar on their price page, but no image. Light Bar Assembly Rear Solid/Independent Axle GL1800 A-CH-E01-036 $624.00 this is from the Champion site.

Based on that price and the way it fits the curvature of the bumper I'm guessing it is custom made for Champion. ???? Maybe a call to them?

I'd already called Champion. They make a 1 piece chrome bumper that goes all the way across.

I have found something close to that: http://cadtochrome.com/ctc/trike-bum...e-bumpers.html

I still think that what is in the picture is a handle turned into a bumper.

Thanks ... those are getting close. But I'm hoping someone knows what these are so new mount holes do not have to be drilled. I did tap on them and they are defiantly metal.

To me it looks like a custom job (I may be wrong, dang sure won't be the first or last time!).

Don't know how many remember this, but there USED to be "custom fit" led light strips that were used to flush mount inside bumpers, tailgates, etc on custom vehicles. The cover was thicker than most so you could scuff it down to be flush with the mounting surface like the pictures below.

Looks just like a chrome oval closet rod with plastic end caps. Maybe they are home made ...

But how did he or she get such a perfect match to the body curve? Even if aluminum, with some kind of jig and possibly heat, that would be hard to bend. Then you need to weld that mounting piece. If it is this stuff the guy/gal must be a machinist or darn handy with a shop full of goodies. It can be done but not by the regular rider. Custom made is without a doubt my guess and I think you got it right about this being the start. But were the LED's on the surface or in a channel? I can't really tell from the picture. So it might be custom from the get-go. But nice no matter how and obviously unique and desirable.

You don't say what the problem is. If it isn't lighting up, then remove it and take it to an electrical shop and have them replace the leds or controller.

It may take some care, but they don't seem all that hard to make from the closet rod mentioned above. They could be made with hand tools, the bending would be the most challenging part, though it is more of a curve rather than a bend. It would be possible to do by hand, but a metal bender - the kind with 2 rollers on one side and 1 on the other - can make the curve. A metal shop could do it for a nominal fee, or free if you have a friend working there. Pack the tube with sand and plug the ends to keep it in so the tube won't crimp while bending. The channel for the lights can be cut many ways, I'd use a Dremel, because that's what I've got. The mounts can be tapped to screw onto the bar. On the trike side I'd probably tap the inside of the mounting tube and a make a plug to bolt to the trike body. I've gotten LED's from Custom Dynamics that are red running lights, they can also be brake lights and/or turn signals.

Humph. I think I just got myself a winter project.
