Hello all. Michael here, a Navy Vet & long time rider. Here is my intro to trikes story.
I went to visit my son in CA & help him with a car show/concert he was putting on 7/1/2017. After the show Sat. we where going to rent me a trike & go riding with a few friends for 3 days up the middle of CA & back down the PCH. I have been riding about 50 years, but do to balance issues, I have been grounded for the last 2 years.
After looking at the 2017 Freewheeler (black) with the new Milwaukee 8 engine, I was hooked.
My sons friend owns a dealership & they treated me right. I left with the trike + a few accessories & drove around some back roads to get used to rolling on 3 wheels.
We left on Sunday (2nd) and headed north up to the Sierra's. I strictly adhered to the break-in procedures & it did not take long to fall in love with riding again.
With cruise, reverse & a 6 gallon tank, the Freewheeler was made for the open road.
We ended up on the coast about 100 miles or so from SanFran & headed back south and got on the PCH. We went a little over 1,000 miles in 3 days, caught a nice 4th of July show in Long Beach & on the 5th, I was back at the dealer to get the 1,000 mile service & head home..
I then weaved through some wildfires & headed back to St. Louis via the southern route. Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma to southern Missouri. In the end, I covered about 3,250 miles in 10 days & the Harley was flawless. I'm up to about 4,000 now, & after a few minor mods, it's made for me.
Thanks for having me.
Michael
