    Hi Billie

Just want to say shop around and test ride if you plan to get one of those kits... I paid a little over 5,000.00..when I had mine and I should have waited. I purchased my VW trike for less then that and true it needs some adjustment I am happy with my VW trike

Sometime during 2011, the Minnesota DMV made it legal to roadtest on a 4-wheel motorcycle. This past summer, I tested on my Honda Helix CN250 (244cc), with Tow Pac Mini Trike - 8 inch outrigger wheels.

My new 'Class B' Driver's License reads:

    "Endorsements: Motorcycle, Passenger, Snowmobile,.....etc."

"Restrictions: Corrective lenses, valid for motorcycles with rear wheel stabilizers only."

My Voyager broke in 3 places.. I thought I was gona die, the bike was all over the road no warning. I had it welded and reinforced with extra gussets and brackets. I never did feel safe on it again. I think any extra rear wheels bolted to the back as training wheels are subject to this problem. Mine always moaned and groaned rattled and banged. Wore out the rear tire in 5,000 miles and it steered like a truck. Your experience may vary.

Is that because of a "license" agreement w/Tow Pac?

There were many right curves and I noticed the the left wheel get sometimes as much as three to six inches off the ground.

Now I have a Danson set same sort of a set only the Voyager comes off in a few minutes. My set stays on the ground firmly in curves no matter how tight they may be. I would think if going fast 40 MPH in a curve and there is a bump in the road this could be a issue if one of the back wheels doesn't stay firmly on the ground. Right or wrong?
Odd , you mean the inside wheel not the out side wheel ?

    Default Rubber shock mount change?

    Hello bigjoey..
I just recently installed my voyager kit on my 97 GL1500 Wing. I purchased the unit used. Because it was previously installed on a Harley Bagger, I had to purchase the installation kits for the Honda,The first thing I noticed was, the rubber shocks or Bumpers as I would call them were totally redesigned. The older bumpers were basicly a thick rubber Oval, with a upper and lower bracket attached top and bottom. They were definitely well used and cracked and only fit the Harley rear suspension arms.

The new Goldwing kit has a solid round rubber bumper, bound to a flat steel plate with a second plate that is designed to mount on the leaf springs with two long bolts. The problem I have at the moment is these brackets hit my exhaust over bumps. (We ride two up most often.) I relocated them to the lower arms which helped some. Now I still get some contact from the leaf springs on my mufflers over hard bumps. After contacting voyager and speaking directly to a tech, It was suggested that I would be sent a couple of brackets to offset my exhaust.

The year of my wing did not require them according to the info they provided. They also suggested that I could relocate the leaf springs closer to the center of the bike. They said that they do not need to be straight front to rear.

I figured that they should be square to the bike, and inline with the rear suspension brackets. I would think if the springs are angled in toward the center of the frame that the bike would be that much more unstable side to side. I will be installing the new brackets for the exhaust and repositioning the springs when the parts arrive. I am curious as to how these changes to the leaf springs will effect the stability.
Sorry, Kind of long winded response....

    Joe
I have the new rubber shock mounts on my harley and prefer the old style shocks (which was discontinued a while ago) as for the leaf springs not being straight i tried that setup and seems that my preload would come out when we hit the slightest of bumps.

I now have the leafsprings completed straight and (knock on wood) have not had any problems. I knock on wood because we have had nothing but problems with keeping this kit in preload and have broken 2 leaf springs. Needless to say my kit is for sale. We are thinking about a triglide

Apparently, Voyager is one of those items you either love or hate, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground from the comments I've read. I've had excellent luck with my set-up having had it for three months and several thousand miles now with both local and long distance trips. I too would love to have a Tri-Glide but with new prices around 30K and good used in the mid 20's, I'll stick with the 3K+ I've got invested.

I dont hate the kit. When the preload stays in it is a joy to ride but to much messing with it for me. I have rode with it for 8k miles and bet i have reload it 20-30 times. My current setup is 3/4 preload it rides loose, shakes, bounces, and makes noise. When i preloaded at 1 in it rode really nice smooth no bouncing or shaking but seemed when i hit small bumps or slightest imperfections in the road it would come out of load. It is a nice kit when load stays put though

Sorry JD, but I wasn't particularly referring to you when I posted....just that in all the comments I've read, people are either completely satisfied or really unhappy and the main issue seems to be the preload. Your experience with 20-30 reloads in 8000 miles would seem to indicate you've got an issue with the basic installation or something, don't think that's normal. Don't know if you've contacted Voyager but if it was me, I would.

I have contacted voyager twice and both times wasnt very helpful and really kind of defensive on their part and trying to make their product gold and not really listening to my complaints and really blaming the setup but the setup was done to the tee of their instructions and another time from a dealer. I still have broken 2 leafsprings and bumps knock it out of preload with a loud bang or pop if you will. but like i said as long as it stays in load at 1inch of preload it is joyful to ride but it dont stay in load unless the road is smooth.i have tried 1/2 3/4 and 1 inch preloads less than 1 inch it is bouncey, noisey feels loose and hateful to ride.
