Default Plastic parts

I just had a side cover blow off my Goldwing 1500 yes with all the graphics on it. Where do you buy plastic parts?

Sorry John I know it will be hard to fix with the graphics. I get most of my parts for my daughters 97 GW on e-bay.

I found all but a tiny piece the size of my thumb and it is actually almost under the seat top Front. I glued it together with Plastic weld .Except for the dark cracks it is ok. From 300 feet it looks perfect <LOL>. When winter comes in a few weeks I am going to remove it take it in the workshop and rebuild it and paint it. I will have to have all new graphics done to it. It is now attached with a chrome acorn nut into the frame . Actually looks rather nice . Y didn't Mother Honda do that ????

I agree John. I have my daughter screwed on. The gromets might of worked well when new but now the plastic pins break off so easy. Even replacement parts break off easy. So I just found a nice spot to put a screw.

actually looks nice .. I threaded a stud into the frame just above the front lower grommet and used a jam nut to hold it. Drilled a hole in the the cover and let the rod stick out 1/2 inch or so and screwed on the acorn nut,Looks factory .

Interesting - I just had to get new grommets on our trip to Minnesota. I think I would have lost the battery cover if we weren't riding 2-up and feet were holding the tupperware on.

Hope it won't be too much hassle rebuilding the part.

Pictures?

Oh yeah had the same thing happen.

Your friendly Honda dealer will order it for you . I lube up my grommets every year to keep them soft and R/R them about evry 3 years. I also have a small tie wrap at the top. I 've read some attach a heavy fish line to the cover also.

None of that helped. At 70 miles an hour the cover flew off it flopped around for 10 seconds at the end of the fishing line ( actually I had #14 wire) and then the wire broke and it was airborn about 20 feet and landed in the road and 2 cars ran over it. I just replaced the grommets last year. My problem is when they triked it they removed the rear grommets so I only have the front 2 . I now have acorn nuts holding them on ,bolted to the frame . The graphics will be put on at Americade by the same guy that does all my work. It is worth the $100.00 to have it exactly the same.
