• Hannigan Launches Indian Trike at Daytona


    The most eagerly awaited trike in recent memory is about to be unveiled at Daytona Bike Week, according to sources at Hannigan Motorsports. Hannigan has developed a trike that captures the spirit of the new Indian Motorcycle by Polaris Industries, combining traditional Indian styling with state of the art engineering and components.

    Probably no other trike manufacturer has had such a long love affair with the Indian marque. Ever since Dave Hannigan purchased a 1937 Indian motorcycle in 1967 at the age of 17, he has had a fascination with the brand. Today he includes a 1947 Indian in his collection of vintage motorcycles.

    American-made Indian Motorcycles were first introduced in 1901. For 2014, Polaris Industries, one of the world’s leading motorsports companies, has united true Indian style with today’s advanced bike building technology. Dave Hannigan immediately realized that the new Indian would be a natural fit for a premium trike.

    Hannigan Motorsports has a rich history of its own, having produced world class motorcycle products for 39 years. From the aerodynamic teardrop fenders which mimic the curvature of the gas tank, to the fender skirts which honor Indian’s heritage, Hannigan has produced a trike conversion that looks like it belongs on an Indian Motorcycle, and only on an Indian Motorcycle. Wire wheels and white wall tires enhance the classic look.

    Each individual component of this trike is a piece of art, and the finished product is a true masterpiece, kind of like the Sistine Chapel on three wheels. Michelangelo would have been proud of the paint job on the Indian trike being displayed by Hannigan Motorsports at Daytona Bike Week.

    All of these good looks are backed up by great performance and functionality. This trike shares the essential design features found in other Hannigan trikes: Independent Suspension, Wide Track, Low Center of Gravity, Anti-Sway Bar, and Rigid Chassis, while retaining the stock drive belt in its original position for reliability. Brembo brakes and Progressive IAS (Inertia Activated System) suspension are standard.

    Hannigan’s design team set out to produce a trike with ample luggage capacity, without ending up with a boxy trike body. Touring riders will appreciate the generous 7 cubic feet of trunk space, enough to carry four cases of your favorite beverage with room left for a laptop computer, for example. Such a cavernous trunk in a trike with a low-slung profile is simply amazing.

    Hannigan Motorsports is offering this conversion for the 2014 Indian Chieftain initially, and will shortly have conversion kits for the Indian Chief Classic and Indian Chief Vintage as well.
