    Default Thinking of purchasing Tri-Glide

Ok, all you trikers, give me your best review of your Tri-Glide. I'm thinking of trading/selling my 2010 FLTHK. I've owned a Goldwing CSC and loved it so I'm familiar with trikes. I did loose 10 miles per gallon. What is the mileage on your trike.
Thank and be safe out there.

roughly 25 to 27 mpg give or take. personally, I could not have made a better purchase.

Hey Patriot! I see you are just a bit north of me!

Anywho, I average 35 mpg on my Tri. Not much city riding. If I stay under 65 I do allot better than when i go over that. Running I90 across MN and SD loaded up for Sturgis I can get 35mpg so long as I don't run hard. Get up at 75 or so and the mpg drops real fast.

    i like my '09 t/g because
1.i wanted a factory trike. parts & service redially available.
    2. no CAT 2. ITS A FACTORY TRIKE.ext. warr is well worth it.in ind. there is a senate bill 275 that states bikes after '82 must have mufflers with no more noise that OEM and must have that OEM stamp.

i dislike it because.'10 & up t/g's have CAT's and really have a heat problem, guys have removed the cats . more costs.
    1. THE REAR BRAKES REALLY SUCK. can i state that any louder? you can't lock-up the brakes they just aren't that good. and h-d will not fix this problem. but for 1499.00
Performance Machine has dual piston caliper (stage 1) kit. which i installed. i figure its better than rear ending someone. i have installed them and they are GREAT.
    2. engine lacks power if you ride 2-up w/ luggage.
at 14k i installed S&S's 510 gear cam. great preformance. this is the largest S&S cam before head work. and it eliminates the cam shoes. mine had more wear that normal according to the local shop. that was 2k.
    3. you should have a ECM controller if you modify the bike in any way. dealer can re-map your ECM but there are better controllers available.probably 300.00 if i remember right.
    4. trike still shakes, and shakes but its a harley. a new honda with the trike conversion
looks appealing. ie solid smooth performance. if you can test ride other trikes then
your 5-years from now (right trike-for-you) will be a better satisified triker.
all-in-all i like my trike. good luck

1:I can lock up my brakes no problem and they are still stock.
2: My trike does not shake and run straight and perfect

I have a 2010 tri-glide that I love. I did not love it before I did all the changes to cool it and to make more power. I am a 19 year member of Harley Owners Group so guess which way I would lean??

mine is a 2010, 14000 miles with the original rear brakes, still lots of pad left, emergency brake sucks -- trike never shakes, can ride with both hands off the bars and goes straight as an arrow, had to remove the cat and install a tuner, got rid of a bunch of heat ( did the pipes also ) going to put on a 30 tooth rear pully in the spring, but the
12's come standard with this -- over all I love the trike and I wouldn't hesitate to get another one ( but I really like the looks of the Cheetah thats advertised on here )

Mine is an '11.., 7,000 miles..I can lock up the rear stock brakes with no problem. Does not shake. Have done many mods to the motor, cams, lifters, rear lift kit, xtra rear led lights, V&H pipes & mufflers, no cats, Ness air sucker, Screamin' Eagle tuner, no heat issues now, nice Mustang seat, lotta chrome goodies, handles great, drives straight, will run sweet at 85 all day long in 6th gear with the cruise control activated going up some of the steepest inclines we have out here in the west, removed the worthless parking brake and don't miss it at all. I dont check my milage, cuz i don't care what it gets, as long as it runs how I want it too. The one time I did check it, I got an even 30, at mostly 75 to 85. It does get way better if I stay under 65 though. Have put almost $12k in aftermarket on it, and not finished yet. I love my TG and so does my wife, which as we all know, is very important.

15,000 and my wife and I love our Triglide. I have done the exhaust, A/C, and TTS tuner to cool it down. If I ride 55mph I get around 40mpg, with out ethanol it will add another 4-5 mpg. 75 mpg on Interstate with cruise = around 34 mpg. NIce to have a full warranty from ONE company. I have had a couple issues, all the bolts on the tranny and oil pan where only finger tight.

My 2011 has been great from the start. I installed the Fuel Moto package..Headpipe-Jackpot Quiet mufflers-SE air cleaner-PCV. Runs great and the steering is straight as an arrow. No problems to date.

    Wife and I have '09 and '11 Tri-Glides The 09 is approaching 30,000 miles, The 11 around 6,000.

    1. They vibrate, they are Harleys, what the hell
    2. They 'feel' hot, they are Harleys, what the hell
    3. They both have catalytic converters, thanks EPA
    4. They are both pretty near bone stock

We WERE both long time 2 wheelers, mostly Harleys. We switched to trikes when the options were rocking chairs or trikes. They do steer different, stop different, and accelerate different than the 2 wheeler you are driving. They don't have less power, they just weigh more. If you want to drag race power wheel chairs, DON'T buy a trike. Hell, if you want to go really fast, don't buy a Harley

Both scoots have the Cat still in. I put oil temp gages in both, we ride in the South West and don't have a heating problem. If you ride with your right leg pulled back like you have mid controls it is pretty close to the exhaust pipe, it get hot. MOVE YOUR LEG, or spend 5 grand on "mods". Exhaust gas is around 1400*, taking the cat out may allow more free flow, but exhaust gas ain't any cooler. My stock Tri, with my 250# butt sitting on it can still do 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds. Not anywhere near as fast as my neighbors Ducate, but I can't do wheel stands either.... and I'm riding a trike for God's sake.

Bottom Line, it is a Harley Trike. The epitome of touring, comfort, luxury... Harley style. Drag racer it ain't, it will do 85, just take a little time to get there.

If and When you do it, please don't spend a lot of time on the boards bitching about your breaks feeling funny, your hot foot, how hard it is to steer, that 'funny noise', and how much you loved your 2 wheeler. IF it is broke, take it and get it fixed.

    Ride it in good health

OH, we love ours, won't trade them, and ride the hell out of them.

11 Tri Glide. Vance & Hines power duels along with double slash cut mufflers, SE air cleaner, SE 255 cams and the SEPRT for tuning. Also, added a 10 row Jagg oil cooler with fan. Runs good with none of the original heat issues. Gas mileage around 32 if kept under 65. 8500 on the clock and the rear brakes are looking fine.

I have rode the TRI and I don't like it. I have seen the TRI and I don't care for it. I think the kits are better then the Factory by a long shot. Ride is opinion as is the look of it.. but I'm not sold on the Tri glide by a long shot... Maybe in time Harley will make it the "trike" to own but right now... NOPE!

I have an '08 California SideCar and I don't think there is a better looking trike. Harley is solid axle, no running boards, hot, cat, etc. CSC did it right and with the Champion mechanical reverse, I can climb mountains backwards. Running boards finish the look. IRS...what can I say, it's the right way to do rear suspension. Harley will get there in a few years......... or not. CSC warranty is good enough, and they don't have problems, so you don't really have to worry about it, as long as the Harley part doesn't have issues.

Ride em all, choose the one you like the best, and it will be the best one in the long run.

    I like CSC.

well on a posting to raise a t/g tri-glide one guy only had the reverse motor blow the fuse once while trying to back up on jacks. a 1500.00 reverse motor isn't made for that purpose. not even in a emergency would i try that. just another opinion .

I test road the Tri-Glide this afternoon. Compared to the Honda Goldwing California Side Car conversion I had at one time, I was very impressed. Even stock, I thought the power was very good. But the most impressive part of the bike, steering and ride. I thought the ride was 9 on a scale of 1-10.

I was offered $18500 for my 2010 Ultra Limited and $1500 off the MSRP.

    What do y'all think?
Great people are common people who have committed themselves to uncommon goals.

Depends on your trades condition. They are going to make money on the deal, but that's why they are in business. I figure between 2 and 4 K. Nada retail on your Ultra is around 23,990. You save the hassle of selling and depending on state some sales tax. Is it worth it to you that's whats important.
