We get ours from www.jakewilson.com. I can't remember what the starter kit cost, but the 2 oz refill is 7.99. We have been using them in our bikes and truck for almost three years now. Highly recommend!

    Question Tire Balancing Beads

Anybody been using the tire balancing beads ? They sound like a great idea but I've never talked to anyone that has used them.

I ran them for about a year. When I bought new tires I went back to weights. I really could not tell any difference. I think that MC tires are made with such precision that they are not a difference maker. With larger tires like off road or big truck tires maybe.

I just started using them. I put on new chrome wheels and did not want weights to corrode the wheels in any way.
I installed the beads into the valve stem as the instructions show but this is a long process this way, even with the plastic bottle and hose that came with the kit.
The beads are in and they seem fine at all speeds. I have been on the Ohio Turnpike at speeds up to 80 MPH and no vibration at all.

I met up with a guy at the Honda shop while I was having new tires put on my 2-wheeler and he said that he used the beads for his Goldwing trike and it really improved the ride. He said he had a hard time getting the front tire ballance before he went to the beads. Since then I have met 3 others who use them and like them. Maybe the next set of tires, I will try them out.
The only thing I dislike about the beads, you have to be careful when you check the air in your tires. I have had the beads stick in the valve stem a couple of times, if you don't have an air hose available to blow them back down, you might be in a pickle.

On my Valkyrie bike, last tire change, I installed the liquid Ride On. I never knew the bike could ride so smooth on these Houston roads. I even run darkside (car tire) on the rear... installed it there, too. Great stuff, IMO.

Will add it to the trike before summer runs.

Have them in the trike tires and hubby's RK, which has a tube. Weights are UGLY...Don't think we will ever us weights again. Never have to worry about balancing a tire. I've never heard Ron complain about the beads getting stuck in the valve stem. The beads should fall to the lowest part in the center of the tire when it isn't rolling. I think he may have come up with a simpler way of getting the beads into the tire. Will have him check back with you as soon as he gets home.

I use them... can't tell the difference really...put them in last summer. I have Avons on the front and never needed weights with them anyway, but just put beads in to be on the safe side and see "if" they would improve the ride in any way. Some guys tell me that glass beads will just break up inside your tires... plastic will just form a lump. Supposedly ceramic beads are the only way to go. I was also told that putting beads in the back tires of a trike won't improve the ride. I dunno, but guess time will tell.

Another option is Centramatic wheel balancers, they bolt in behind the rotors and create the same effect. The BIG plus IMO on these, is they don't have to come out with every tire change. You leave them bolted up tire after tire which to me, is less hassle as well.

Default Tire balance - Ride - on or DynaBeads

I have a question for everyone out there.

Having a flat tire on a trike is a miserable scenario as none of us carry a jack to jack up the rear much less a spare tire and few might not even have a tire plug kit with them.

I have the Concentic balancers on the front tire along with Ride-On wheel balancer & sealant in that tire. TPS attatched and there has been no issues with the tps reading the tire pressure not a conflict between the concentric balancer 7 the ride-on ( which is suppose to both balance and seal any punctures. **** I had the balancers on the front and just didnt want to take them off unless absolutely necessary or unless there was a problem ( conflictof interest) with them and the ride-on liquid..... All is well up front.

Now comes the rear tires. I have dynabeads in them as that just seemed like the best choice at the time. I also carry a tubeless tire patch plug kit just in case & a elec tire pump..... the Dyna beeds work great.

My question is more of what experience does anyone have with the ride-on sealer & balancing liquid? Yes i have it in the front tire but as i already had the concentric balancer installed i have no real wayof knwing if the ride-on works or not. Just know that it didnt conflict with the pre installed balancer.

Getting ready for some serious milage and if removing the dynabeeds and using the Ride-On would make more sense ( stop leaks and balance) than (just balancing) then i would surely go with the Ride-on as the way to go.

Any and all input would be most greatly appreciated.

Ride on in all 3 tires of our Stallion and HD Road/Glide with Champion trike. JUst got back from 7500 mile ride and no issues. Have not inspected the tires to see if they picked up anything. Wotks good for us so far.

It is much easier to get a car type tire repaired/replaced while traveling than a replacement mororcycle tire as most of us do if we have a flat on the motorcycle tire.
If you have a good road-side assistance plan, dealing with a rear car tire or even plugging it shouldn't be a problem when compared to the front tire.
I would contact the maker of your front wheel balancer and see what they advise about having the ride-on sealant in the tire. One could be working against the other,I don't know for sure.
I put Counteract beeds in all 3 of my tires and they advised to remove any wheel weights.
I have good tires on the trike and I just ride it and don't worry, but still have roadside assistance plan and hope I never need it.

Already spoke with both Ride-On and the concentric folks about whether or not there might be or knew of a conflict between those 2 balances were i to have both. Neither had the slightest idea as to what, IF ANYTHING, there might be. That was like 2 years ago and i have let both know that neither product worked against the other.

For sure contact beads or ceramic beads can NOT be in the tire if one uses the liquid as it just gunks them all up.
But there are reports thatnot all tires do well with just the beads as they tend to be only in the center of the tire and not spread out across the face / tread width... Some suggest that it is an advantage to have tire balanced as normally ( dynamic balancing) and then add the beeds as they do a more on vehicle balancing and will fine tune the balance to offset any wear or anything else.

Oh i have good tires all the way around and good road side assistance as well. But down here in south Texas it doesnt take much to be out of CB and cell phone coverage and 50+ miles from the closest little burg.* As i know from having dropped the front yoke on my trike down on old HW 90 last year. No road traffic as its off beaten path and zero phone coverage..5 hrs setting in the hot Texas sun makes one contemplate what all should be carried in / on the trike.
Nothing could have prevented that but i can sure take a real look at what i can do about a flat tire.
A very large percentage of Can Am Spyders use and swear by ride on, and over the years i haven't heard a complaint. At one time Ride-On was also a sponsor of Spyderlovers.

I had to make an unscheduled stop at a Honda dealer just west of Atlanta to get a new rear tire (2 wheeler then). The sign they had in the service area said there was an additional $30 charge for tires that had any sealant such as Run Flat in them.

Default Re: Tire balance - Ride - on or DynaBeads

I can somewhat ( if i squint real hard and twist my head around a little)understand that charge as some of the sealant such as SLIME * used in RTV's etc* are so thick that they bond to the rim and make it nearly impossible to get things apart. Out here and in most of Texas we have these things called sand burrs that are death to a standard bicycle tire & everyone uses slime or something like that in most ATV , bicycle and even riding lawn mowers.
Yet i think that to me the offset of not having to worry as much about getting a flat is well worth the $... I will always prefer to be as prepared as possible over just winging it and hoping that nothing goes south on me.

I had to make an unscheduled stop at a Honda dealer just west of Atlanta to get a new rear tire (2 wheeler then). The sign they had in the service area said there was an additional $30 charge for tires that had any sealant such as Run Flat in them.
