    Default Toy haulers

    Been looking at toy haulers for my GL1800 Monarch II Lehman. Looket at Dunesports in Mesa Arizona. My problem is two fold: I drive a Dodge Minivan with 3.8 liter V6 paid for. Don't want to buy a new hauler as this is paid for. Second I need a unit that sleeps us comfortably when we are trraveling. Dunesports has a 12 and 14 foot unit that looks possible but anybody out there know anything about the company? With a trailer hauling package and a good equalizer hitch I think I pull either trailer with the bike loaded but I think the 14 is awful close to overloading my van. Any help?

    Masterchief93, in addition to the weight I would also consult my vehicle owners manual for possible limitations on the sq. footage of the front of your potential toyhauler. I've had 2 different minivans (Ford and Chevy) and both were limited by sq. footage to popup camper types of trailers.

    i am also looking at dunesport. they have been around for a few yrs. the 12 foot rear door won't let my trike in, i think it's 4ft. i need 54 inches or better. when you look at their website click on cargo dims to see door opening size

    This may be a little over the top for some but since the wife and I are now retired we're seriously considering a Keystone Raptor 4014 Velocity pulled by a Dodge Ram 3500 diesel dually and becoming full time RVers. I has a 14' garage.

    Toy haulers are great for fulltiming in we have been full timing in our 383 Fuzion TE 11 for over a year now. pulled 16,000 miles last year from Texas to Alaska and back to Texas.

    For those that are retired and/or can afford it, the toyhauler is "the cat's meow" We love ours. We bought a used 2006 Dutchman wide body, with a 8'X12" garage. We put a 2010 RK and a 2012 TG in the garage and pull it with an awesome 2011 F250 Super duty with the 6.7 turbo diesel engine that has 400 HP and 800 ft lbs of torque, with no problems . We have pulled several types of trailers with a couple of different trucks, and can assure you that you will have a decrease of mpg no matter what. We did a test out west, pulling an open 16 ft, with our two bikes loaded and found that we could save 4/5 miles per gallon by maintaining 60/65 mph, although the area we were in had a speedlimt of 75/80. At 75/80 we could see the gas needle moving..LOL We have noticed that pulling our toyhauler, the gas milage is running around 12/13 mpg, on the super slab, but will drop to 10 if Ron's foot gets heavy. In the mtns drops to around 8. I might add that if you are patient and do a lot of searching, you can find a nice used RV/camper/trailer what ever it is you are looking for at a good price. We saved $60,000 plus dollars by buying used. Our main problem was needing the wide body along with the big garage. If you only have one bike/trike, you will not have those restrictions. Good luck!

    We looked at the Raptor. That is one NICE rv. We left the lot drooling. If we could have sold our house, that baby would be hauling us around, but, in the market, we couldn't sell the house and found the Dutchman. She is a nice rv, and for the money, it was a no brainer for us. If you can afford first class, the Raptor is the way to go.
