Get rid of Cat

I would like to get rid of Cat in the 2009 Tri Glide but am not sure what all is needed or what fits? I would like to go Vance & Hines Pipes but when I go to the shop they don't have much info on what fits. Any help on what is needed and best place to buy is much appreciated!

I installed the V&H Power Duals with the Hi-Out Put Mufflers on my 2011 triglide. No cats. V&H's has a number of slip-on mufflers. My Ultra had the V&H oval mufflers. They had a decent sound.

Did you add a tuner or download from dealer, also do I need the trike adapter kit?

the '09 t/g dos not have a CAT. OR AT LEAST MINE DOESN'T. in front of the front cylinder is the O2 sensor .
the CAT in later models have the cat near the tranny cover. and the O2 sensor is before and after the CAT.

I believe the Cat's were in the mufflers on the "09's" If I remember correctly then all you need to do is replace the slip-ons. Get a high flow air cleaner and a fuel manager then you will see some power gains. Then if you want to relly go wild a cam change.

I had an 09 Electra Glide Classic. There was no cat in the headpipe or muffler's.

Check the VIN. In the 8th position from the left, if you have a "3", then you have a "50-State" certified bike (EPA and CARB) and a CAT. If you have a "1", then you have a "49-State" bike (EPA only) and no CAT for 2009.

I just looked at my VIN and it had a "1"..So I have a no cat header for 2010..

I thought any trike after 2010 had a the CAT in them..

Yes, you have it right. Also the California 2009 Triglides a year ahead of everyone else. Believe they did the 2009 CVO bikes as well.

You are correct, all California touring and CVO have a cat in the head pipe for the 09 MY. 2010 is the 1st year everyone has been cursed with a cat in the head pipe, my cat lives in the garage attic.

From reading TheBobs post above I was curious so I went out and checked my 2011 TriGlide and the 8th digit is a "1" so that means I have no cat?

That is for 2009's.... the 2011 has a cat.

So then I guess to rid the trike of heat and it's cat, I will need to get a new set of head pipes or look at American Custom Mufflers and trade in my head pipe

Everybody has their own opinion about the heat issue such an individual thing... I know for me the best investment I made for my 2011 Tri Glide was changing out the head pipe, mufflers, air cleaner and getting a super tuner. But to each his (or her) own.

I get a good laugh when I read these post about the cat and heat. My wife(TNTriker) said don't touch my cat. I love my Cat! Get off the sofa and ride. The heat won't bother you.. Yes, It's an individual thing. Ride Safe !

Well,,,I certainly was not on the sofa, and the heat coming from the right side of my "11 TG was unbearable to the point of red burnt skin thru my Levis!. That heat did bother me. After replacing the stock pipes with V&H Power Duals, Ness Big Sucker, Screamin' Eagle Tuner, and changing the cams and lifters, I do not have 1st degree burns on my leg anymore. TG runs cooler, at least 30 more HP or more, and I can pass trucks pulling
5th wheels on 7% grades at 75 MPH and a head wind. With my Babe on Back too! I love my cats also, right where they are sitting alone, cold and desloate, on a shelf in my garage.
