Steering Dampner,, Help

I have an 06 Roadstar MS. with a champion kit on it.. I am tring to find a Steering Dampner to fit the RS. I can't find one.. Hey DD, eBay has some universal fit dampers-you would want the 400mm unit. They are only about fitty bucks and can be easily installed. I have one on the way for my HD.<img src="images/smilies/grin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="big grin" class="inlineimg" />

wondering if you have added a raked tree??? thinking might not need the damper with the trees<br />

Front raked, berings snug as they should be, a tire on front there have not been used for 2 wheel bike, on trike only. Ballance beeds in front tire. Works great.

Thanks i will look into that. I do have the 6 d rake and i just put a new tire on the front. It helped alot. But with out a dampner. There is still the danger when u hit ahole or tracks or what ever, could take the bars out of your hands. So did you ever put a damper on your Roadstar Don-I do think it would resolve your dilema.

No i never found one to fit my bike. I am still looking.

You probably will not be able to find a damper for your specific model of bike. Most people end up buying a universal damper, they are available on eBay. You will likely have to make brackets, to fit mounting positions on your trees. I recently did a Victory pitboss trike and it was challengeing to make it fit. I made 3 or 4 different brakets before coming up with one that works.

Ok thanks i will look into to getting one. I have a friend that can help me with mounting. I have a wile to get it done.its smowing here again for the 3rd time in a week. Lol

Which raked tree did you use (EZ-Steer or some other)?

Yes I have easy steer from Champion, I bought an after market damper and I bought the HD tri glide mount brackets, cause the front end is very similar.. Some modification prolbibly will be needed. I will let u know how it goes,, I haven't had a chance yet to put it in yet...

Don as an owner of a RoadStar.
I can tell you there is no dampener made for a stock front end.
Do you have the OEM springs or have Progressives been added??
Spacers 2-4 inches should have been added to the down tubes if you do have a 6 degree rake.
If left OEM size with out the 2-4 inch outer spacers not good.
Your trail is way off.
That in itself would give you one heck of a harsh ride with ruts and bumps etc.

The stock springs will give you a smoother ride.
If you have Progressives and don't want to change them out.
You might want to try cutting the extensions that would be in the shock tubes with the progressives.
The extensions should just be some PVC tubing about 5-6 inches long.
If so try cutting an inch or so off.
But
None of this matters if the outer tubes aren't extended.
The front end geometry would be all wrong with just a 6 degree neck rake.
4.5 degree not as bad.

Know ahead of time that the tube end caps are a bear to put back on.
They are only aluminum and under a lot of pressure. Very easy to muck the end caps up.

I have balance beads in front tire, 42 lb air. It is very important that bearings are very snug on tree.
