Default New Toy Hauler

Well, after some research, we decided on the Four Winds Fun Mover. Had to go 220 miles from home to find what we wanted, but the deal was struck Saturday, 6/20 and I pick it up 6/27.
It's a model 31D, brand new 2009. Here is a 'stock' picture of it. I'll add more pics when it's at home next Saturday!

Some machine Dave. You will be driving around in style. Will the trike be on a trailer attached to the back?

I see now... You sleep with your No1 baby & No 2 baby at the same time. A wicked outfit. I do like the electric bed option. This will be just the ticket for scouting around the country. I am getting green Dave

Ultra boy I got a 08 FORD V10 31 Foot i bought new to go to daytona in 08 Salesmen told me 10 miles to the gallon ,you get down south on flat ground you will get 11-12 I BELIEVED HIM, WELL on the way down we got 6 thats 6 MILES TO THE GALLON on the way home 7 . 150 miles into our trip we had 2 rear tires blow, the valve stem xtenders for the rear dual wheels fell off got stuck between the dual wheels & they blew out 2 rear tires, the wind noise kept getting louder & louder stopped for gas & the bolts were falling out of the drivers door, generator quit the first night some wires came lose, all the caulking on every window cracked & shrunk, the window in the bunk leaks, Order a set of Firestone airbags for the rear to handle the weight, I put my trike in there & the front end comes up about two inches makes it real hard to handle in the wind & rain, another thing to look at is it holds about 27 gallons of fresh water which is useless if you dry camp & thats all we do so I added a 40 gallon water tank under the couch. I changed the air intake to a K&N free air system not just the filter, when i put the airbags on i felt there would be to much heat on the airbags so i cut the exhaust off it from the cat back put on a banks muffler I found on ebay & made my own tailpipe, last trip to charlotte NC. I got 8.7 MPG. I also put bilstein shocks on it to help with the swaying. The tiedowns in back some of them go into the steel cross bars but most go into the plywood I had two of them come loose. The backup camera did not last long It got stuck half way out & keeps blowing the fuse, I got it out & leave it there. Try loading your trike into the back, my mufflers drag on the ground & the rear frame cross member hitts were the rear ramp meets the floor. My dealer just SUCKED I had a lot of wiring problems , leave there for weeks & nothing got done Fourwinds SUCKED just as bad I fixed the wires myself & everything else its not worth the hassle of arguing. The wheel liners are cheep pop on hub caps that fall off on a good pot hole, When we were leaving for charlotte I checked the air pressure in the MICHELIN tires the side walls were all cracked dry rott 5500 miles & 15 months old MICHELIN says its not dry rot its ozone depletion.

I replaced them with 6 new Firestone After paying $ 600. for the two tires that blew out in the first 150 miles we were not getting stuck aside the road again with blown out tires. IM sure thats half of my miner problems, next time I by a new RV I will rent one for a week,THATS ALL THE FUN IVE BEEN HAVING WITH MY FUN MOVER. I HOPE I DID NOT DEPRESS YOU GOOD LUCK:yes::no:

Road Dog... Whew! That's a lot of problems you've had! I'm hoping (obviously) that my luck will be better! If there are warantee problems, we have the factory close to us, but hopefully that won't be a trip we take too often. For what these things cost, you would hope assemby problems would be minimal. They are assembled by local Amish folks.
The 'Garage' on this one is 96" wide by 116" long, and I'm hoping I can get the trike and the bike in there at once, as that would sure be nice.

Well, we still love it! We traveled as many places as we could this summer, the longest of which was to Branson Mo. We got both the Trike and Reenies Softail in there at once, and have had no problems at all. Getting ready to winterize now.

You don't have to put it up for the winter..... Come on down to Alabama or Florida, still got a lot of good riding days here. We will be camping in Nov-Dec at a Corps of Engineers park on the river...
Have a great week and glad U have enjoyed the toyhauler....

You know... THAT is not a bad idea! Might just have to do that this winter. Of course, I have to stop in Dothan for a bit...

Chef@4, We got between 7 and 10 for the first 1000 miles or so, after that, about 12 was the best I ever saw, so I just quit looking at it. It is what it is, and, just like the trike, I don't really care. With a 50 gallon tank, it's got enough range.
On my HD FLHX Trike, the slash-cut aftermarket pipes do drag a bit going in and out, but not by much. The Fun Mover came with two interlocking wedge ramps, which fit nicely under the ramp. They are about 8" tall, and 2' wide, which solves the problem. I bought a third one to make the ramp wide enough for the trike, but they are a pain to drag out and use. The storage compartment for them only holds the original pair, so I slide the third one under the trike. The garage area is wide enough to get the trike and Reenie's Softail in there together. I have a pair of oval shaped mufflers (4" X 2") for the trike that may make the difference in clearance.

I got 12 miles to the gallon on my 08 toyhauler once , We had just stopped in Maryland & filled up with gas as we pulled out of the gas station the tranny blew , so we had it towed back to MA. the tow truck driver said to leave it running in neutral It was about 400 miles and we figure it got 12 miles to the gallon. After the tranny was fixed back to 8 3/4 MPG . I made a plywood ramp thats about 4 feet long that Is hinged on to the rear ramp door ,when the ramp is down this flips over & makes & good approach, Its just like most enclosed trailers have on the ramp door. Its a lot easier than fighting with the plastic xtentions that come with the motorhome, on mine it can take a half hour trying to get the two of them in or out of the cabinet thats to small for them.

Did you take your trike up into it? We had a Fun Mover about 6 years ago, the ramp we had would cause the trike to bottom out at the crest ... so we sold it, but it was a great vehicle for the 3 years we had it for our Goldwing and Voyager XII bikes.
