Well Chef, since you didn't like my baseball bat remedy maybe you can get an answer here. My guess that within 24 hours you will receive enlightenment.

I don't know about enlightment here, but I have taken a baseball bat to more than one mechanical thing in my life.

Anyhow....has it always been this way? The "natural" thing is for no lights at all to burn on ACC. The reason I ask is to see if the wiring was possibly crossed-up when you had the bike converted. All the rear lighting circuits have to be branched out to feed the two light circuits for the kit...of course and maybe something is amiss in those connections and back-feeeding.

I do believe that lights-is-lights and ALL the lights are powered off the "blue" lead (on mine anway). If you have JUST the running lights on and no others...something smells sort of fishy. Mine is a 2000 and there certainly could have been some wiring changes in the newer models, but I don't see how just your running lights are on and no others. You would have to re-wire my 2000 to get them to do that. Don't know about your 05 though.

As a basisis for all this, I am calling my running lights the ones that stay on in the turn signals...right?

    CORRECTION!

Maybe I need to be hit with the baseball bat, but a light just switched-on in my feeble mind.

All the original wiring diagrams that I was looking at do not take into consideration a recall performed by the MOCO on the ignition switch system. An ignition relay was added on the early models to split the lights off from the general power relay. Your 2005 has the ignition relay. According to the diagram, you should not be able to power up any lights with the switch in the ACC function.

This takes us back to a wiring screw-up somewhere along the way.

    Good luck!

I think the crossed wiring response is on the money, but I suspect you may be referring to the spots, which should are conrollable by the separate "SPOT" switch. The "running lights" that are in the turn signal are not intended to be switchable and are always on when the ignition is on.

Either way, the ACC switch should only operate any non-standard add-ons. I have my accent lights and the floorboard lights on ACC but no standard lighting is there.

The wiring feeding the harness plug used for the add-ons has four lines on it. One of the live (red) lines is controlled by the ACC circuit and the other is activated by the ignition switch. I'm not sure if the SPOT switch has any relationship, but that should be easy to trace on the wiring diagram or by testing with a multimeter with the switchs in various positions. It is highly possible that the installer tapped the wrong circuit during the conversion.

If you haven't solved it when I get back home in a few days, I will check the diagrams and see if I can give you a more definitive response.

Good luck!

I took a closer look at the schematic this morning and if you look at the rear brake light, it shows the blue lead (lights) tied down together with the orange/white on one terminal in that light. If you trace all this out, with the ignition switch in the ACC position, the orange/white is powered up, which in turn will power the running light blue lead from the rear brake/tail light.

It appears to me this is the way it was designed and wired-up in stock fashion. Maybe it's not a wiring error at all? The fix seems to be to remove the orange/white wire from this double connection in the rear tail light/lights.

In the ACC position, all the accessory features will be powered from the ACC buss, but if you break that rear orange/white lead connection....the running lights should not come on "until" you turn the switch to the IGN position. In the IGN position, the power relay will be pulled in and activate the blue light lead as well as another thing-or-two.

You know....you never have to figure this out until you...well...have to figure it out. My 2000 running lights do not come on with the ACC switch. The wiring diagrams up through 2002 do not have this connection in the tail light, but the 2003 and newer do seem to. The MOCO must have made this connection in 2003 and later models.

Bottom line......I would go in the tail light circuit and break the orange/white connection that is tied down with the blue wire connection and see what I have. I don't see anyway to pull a fuse and get this broken without killing some other ACC circuits you may need. Leave the blue wire connected in that circuit and cut the orange/white wire.

My bad, 1550vt, the lights in question are the tail, rear bumper, front fender clearance lights.

    Okay...tail, rear bumper and fender.

This sounds a bit problematic as I do believe your front running lights ought to be on also. The running lights are shown to be on the same circuit as the fender tip light.

I think we have worked ourself back to square one. I don't know why your front running lights are not on also. The bumper lights would have been tied in when the kit was installed and I think once you get your manual and look at all this, you may have to go under there and put things back like the diagram shows and then start all over again. There can be various ways to connect all this stuff up.

I did my own and went to the trouble of installing a terminal strip under the trunk and ring terminals on all the output wires from the tail light connector. I also soldered ring terminals on the kit connecting wires so I could change things around if I wanted to.

I do think it is going to be very difficult to find anybody that can tell you "go move that wire there", because we don't know exactly how they were wired up when the kit was installed.
