I have a VW Trike w/ a 1600 dual port motor (nothing special about it) and I do A LOT of riding here in north east to central FL. I usually ride two up. What oil would you recommend I run in it????

Straight 30 weight and a pint of Lucas oil additive. That advise was given to me by one of the best motor builders in the country. He uses Traveler brand from Tractor supply… said it was still just old fashion oil. Guess it sticks to the parts better then the new fancy oil for modern motors.
My bug mechanic says the same thing. Any quality brand of SAE 30, winter or summer. He uses Castrol, I've always used Valvoline. Hope this helps...

I have been using 15-40 in my 1600, on the advice of my VW mechanic, who has said that it has the zinc necessary for the lifters. Zinc is missing from the modern oils intended for the newer cars. I just changed the oil and used a quart of (if I have the spelling right) Risilone. I drive in So Calif and do some desert driving with temps above 100 F.
I'm using Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 oil which is made for air-cooled engines. Mobil 1™ V-Twin 20W-50 synthetic oil is formulated to help offer outstanding protection in 4-cycle, V-Twin type engines, particularly those which are air cooled and tend to run hotter than other types of engines. Mobil 1 told me there is no problems with running it in the VW 1600 engine.
