Default New Owner of 2013 RT Limited

I have been a trike rider for 13 years. I have owned a Valkyrie Interstate with Lehman, Gold Wing with Champion, Harley TriGlide, and now have graduated to the 2013 Pearl White RT Limited. This year, BRP made many improvements. I am impressed with this roadster and thoroughly enjoy riding it. People that say they have ridden a spyder and don't like it...well, until you have ridden a 2013 RT Limited, you have NOT ridden BRP's latest release. It will only get better and BRP is breaking ground that other kits cannot match.

Considering all that is on the market, Can-Am is the better product. I have been stranded on the road with a kit conversion...no more of that silly stuff. Buy a new Honda, and then replace the rear end....yeah have a major tranny problem or issue with the front end after raking it, you have just about voided the warranty (and that is according to Honda) I bought a Harley TriGlide....nice comfortable ride, but still, air cooled and too darn hot. It's best value was that it had a complete trike warranty with Harley. But the extended warrant was almost $2400.

I been a student of trikes and think Can-Am will continue to advance faster than the other brands. I bought its extended warranty for $745.

Hi Diesel-Dawg, never ridden the Can-Am but would like to. Sounds like they are really improving them. Just might look at one. Welcome from Southern Illinois.

I test drove a Spyder RT-S recently, out of curiosity, and I liked the way it handled, etc. Really liked it. I have a 2010 Gold Wing, Lehman Monarch II conversion, with very low mileage and in great shape. I guess I'm a little tired of Lehman's rigid "no lean" suspension and how rough it is although it has advantages/benefits. I know that you should drive what you like, but from someone with experience with numerous trikes, including the Can-Am, am I crazy to consider switching?

Open mind here, I've heard so many negative comments on the Spyder, so please keep us posted on your 2013 RT Ltd.

well, with due respect, if you go back to the beginning of the 1800, how many negative things have you heard about the wing? Such as front end wobble, cracked frames, heat on legs, crappy buttons that stick, brake recalls, etc. One can say what you said about any vehicle fresh into the market. So, why even go there, if you are not going to be specific as to what you heard and what model and year of the issue. Even on the wing forums, you hear of broken trike axles, and those type of things. Most people post when they want to vent...most don't bother posting ONLY positive things.

Diesel dog welcome to the website from the U P of Michigan. I was serious about a Can Am Spider but did not like the shifting. When you roll off the throttle to upshift the engine does not slow down much so when you push the shift button there is a big surge in the drive system. Considering it's a belt drive how many times will it take that pounding before something breaks? On a positive note it cornered so good it almost thru me out of the saddle. So how is that for an honest opinion?

I drive the SE5. When you shift up, you do NOT roll off the throttle. The Rotax is a high rev engine and redlines at 9000 +. You keep the revs up while shifting. Also, you possibly do not know how to lean into the curve with front wheel independent suspension.

You do not ride it like you do on your rigid rear axle 1500 trike. First learn the particulars of riding a spyder before you claim it is not working correctly. Now how is that for being honest right back at you?

</div>Not crazy in my opinion. Life is short. I want to experience all that I can. If you can afford it, I would switch. However, I am not &quot;brand loyal&quot;. I might, in a few years, switch out to a Victory trike...who knows.

But I enjoy riding different things.

We have an '11 RT Limited that the wife drives. Only issue we have with it is 1) the display is hard to read and 2) engine heat on the legs. Finally learned to keep the throttle steady when shifting, unlike the GW. She still wants to drive the GW, but finds all the hand /foot coordination a bit troublesome. Keep us posted about the '13.

I am also a diesel mechanic, at least I was before that kid hit me head on, but this is the first I have seen your answer about my experience on a Can am.and from what I can read from your answer is when shifting do not roll of the throttle, just bang the gears. How long will the drive train last that way? Also, I can't imagine giving someone a ride and telling them just hang on real tight because that is how it's supposed to be run. I am not going to get into a spitting contest with you, you have your opinion and I have mine.

Is this the "Roadkill Ride In" in Nashville Sept. 5-6-7? If so, Ali and I will be there also. Looking forward to meeting new and old friends. Tom
