Strange feeling

I recently bought an 05' FLHTCUI Motor Trike conversion after 32 years of riding on two-wheels. I think I'm getting the hang of it after 3000+ miles, but I still get the strange feeling I'm going to tip over on downhill curves and low-speed corners at intersections with a reverse bank to them.

How hard is it to tip a trike over? I really don't know if my fears are warranted or not...

I am quite sure it is possible to tip one over, gonzo, but you'd have to work hard to do it!
With normal riding, and respecting traffic laws, it is highly unlikely it would ever happen. Relax and enjoy, you will soon feel confident and at ease .

I agree with Nana :eek: But I think U would have to try real hard to do it. Most people are showing off or doing things they should not do when it does happend...
Watch the film of Nana and Juju on the Dragon and U will see how stable they are. those 2 ladies can make U proud. :yes:

Gonzo... since this is your first trike, remember that after 1000 miles you need to revisit your conversion dealer to check the tightness of all fasteners.

My Motor Trike conversion had several suspension bolts lose causing the rear end "hunt" the crown of the road. It felt just like your "strange feeling" until this was done. Now I can haul arse around corners.

I just have to watch the stress on the front tire. Too much speed will cause the front tire push into the curve. It's like not being able to turn enough to make the corner.

As you can see from the video posted by Nana and Juju ttikes are quite sable even when pushing them. You would actually make a big effort to turn one of these things over. You have a better chanse of crashing a 2 wheeler then a trike if you are pushing it. Get sand or gravel under your 2 wheeler tires when you are pushing and see what happens to even the best of them.

yes trikes can be tiped over it takes a little but it can be done
like gone around in a circle and hit the throddle it can do a job on the trike and the person. i was told of a new trike owner doing this. the trike was or should be totaled and the drive was in the hospital and could still be there
this happened in the parking lot of the harley dealer the guy had just paid cash for it .i haven't heard lately how the guy was doing but i hope he is doing better.

Well, as Katfish said it can be done, but you have to try real hard.

this guy was in his 70s and rode a lot of cycles so i don't think he really tried its just one of those things that can happen
to anyone of us.

Didn’t mean to sound calloused. I fall into both those categories (old and experienced) and I still do some stupid things without really trying. Old habits are hard to break.

They used to say something like that in driver's ed when I was in high school--you can break the speed limit law, but the laws of physics that govern what happens to a solid body hitting another solid body at a high rate of speed--nothing you can do to break THOSE laws.

You can flip anything if you try hard enough . I saw a guy roll a Coupe De viille I took a turn out of a Mall Drive way and gassed it my rear tires broke loose into a slide but not even close to a flip. Still say you got to really try hard. .
