    Default Heated clothing

    I need help !!!

Thinking about getting the Queen some heated clothing. I 've investigated Gerber, Warm Gear, Tourmaster and Venture. I need opinions which one is the best for the money. They all have different prices ranging from $150 -300 per section. Looking for jacket and pants.

    Thanks

I got Cathy a set of the Gerbings, Union Ridge. Pants, jacket and gloves. She has only used them once. But was happy with them. She got sick and now has a really hard time riding in the cold. \
    Anyway check out the Gerbings.

    Good Luck

I have a Gerbings jacket liner, gloria has a Synergy (Tourmaster) jacket liner. We like the jacket liners for the heated arms. Keeps the blood going to the hands warmer, keeping the hands themselves warmer. At least in theory.
Each of us has tried them both, they both work as advertised. Gloria likes the
Synergy - it has 3 settings, low, medium and high. the controller is proprietory, and straps to the leg for easy access. I like the Gerbings - the controller is infinately variable from low to full heat, and the same controller and hook-ups work for Warm 'n' Safe, Harley, Aerostich, Powerlet and a few other brands.

Whatever you get, make sure the fit is snug. Not tight, but the heat transfers best with a thin layer under the liner and snug to the body. One of the reasons The Synergy works for Gloria and the Gerbings works for me is that she has a women's liner, and mine is a men's. Obviously, they are cut to fit different. If you want to spend the bucks, Aerostich has a vest and a jacket liner that you can blow up to make it just the right fit for the wearer.

As far as price, the Synergy was $175, which included the controller, the Gerbings totaled up around $230. Controller is seperate for the Gerbings, and you can get a dual controller if you want to control pants, gloves, socks, etc seperatly from the vest'liner. Both were last day of rally deals.

Gerbing also now sells their BETTER heated gear.
No more gauge wires running thru their gear, they use heated mesh wire !

Wife and I both have gerbing jacket liners and union ridge pants with the adjustible controler and love them. The one thing I like about gerbins is they can custom make them to fit your size which we had to do with my wife. Can not say any thing one way are the other about the other brands, but for us it will always be gerbing.

Eh thanks everyone for the education. I think Gerbings will be the one. The others all seem to be priced within $20.00 of each other.

Take any risk you'd like buying anything from the MOCO. Harley don't make the stuff, which I suppose is a good thing, just be sure you know who the manufacturer is so you can get any problem resolved.

I purchased my wife the very expensive "all weather" heated suit for $1100. The first time we got wet.....everything she had on under her suit wound up turning orange and black.....same color as the suit. I pursued this problem up the Harley chain-of-command and finally got to talk to some person who claimed to have a title something like Vice President of Apparel or some such title. She told me Harley could not be responsible for that and even if it was a safety issue...I needed to take the problem up with the manufacturer of the suit. I explained to her my extreme displeasure with being told this was an all weather suit that leaked like a sieve and went out and purchased some camp-dry. I keep it spayed once a year and have had no problem since.

Whatever you purchase....make sure you can get a rain suit over it!

There was only one reason that I did not take it back and throw it across the counter at the dealer that sold it to me.
My wife loves it! It is a heavy quality made riding suit with separate controls for the pants, coat and gloves. It was presented to me as all-weather, which it was not. My wife is a 5'4" 105 pounder and if you put a rain suit on over the thing....she would look like the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man.

I felt sure that Harley may want to be alerted to the dangers of a short-n-fire in case some of the heating elements inside the suit got wet, but they could care less. When she has it on, I remove my back rest and just lay back on her "electric blanket". We ride in 30-ish type temperatures all the time and she is very cozy inside the thing. I just keep it coated with a product like Camp-Dry and we have had no more problems.

My recommendation is to just purchase something "light" that can be worn under a coat or rain gear.

I use a Gerbings jacket liner that has kept me toasty in inclement weather all the way up from Los Angeles (inclement weather??) to well into Canada. It sure works for me. Now that I have a GW 1800 trike, wifey gets the same. Cheers.

    Gerbings has an online outlet that has some realy good prices. Check out;

    http://heatedclothing.com

They have monthly specials that have good prices. I got my jacket liner & sox for about $100 less than HD's prices. Now -- to catch the gloves on sale!
