Default raked front end.

haven,t posted on here for a while. have spent the last few months changing my trike, i,ve got a 99 roadstar and one of the changes i made was to put a 6 deg raked tree on (barrons) cause i was sick of the risers being stressed going around corners and i,ve also snapped a riser a few years back.
took it for a quick spurt the other day to see what it was like and couldn,t beleive how light it is and for a short while i thought there was something wrong with the whole trike till i got my head around it.
question is should it be really really light to steer as at the moment it feels dangerous to an extent, gotta take it out on highway tomorrow and i,m a bit worried, or do i have to just relearn the steering.
I had the same feeling when I rode mine home from the shop after installation, I thought, wow, this might be easy to over steer. Mine is a GL1800 with a 4.5 degree. After a few miles to get comfortable with it, it's great. It really does make a big difference.

thanks for the replies. i knew it was going to be light but didn,t think it would be this light. mite find a spot where i can perform some figure 8,s and just get comftable with it. i also noticed with how light it was i was actually sliding on the seat but now i know it was because how quick i was turning this will be over come.

I triked my Road Star 2 years ago, the rake kit was done at that time. I to thought the front end was too loose,, the dealer tightened the main steering nut, and that worked great...
well i rode it on saturday going from my old house to the new house.
was a windy day and the trip was about 15kms and after the first 2ks i had my head around it and after that it was just like normal. it was mostly highway riding so all my negative thoughts about what could happen were dispelled. one thing i did notice was it wasn,t harsh on the shoulders when hitting bumps. actually overall was really comftable to ride and i think an all day ride wont be so taxing on the body.

Yep, sounds right - I have a 6 degree (VTXtreme) rake on my '08 Roadie and at first it seemed TOO light but after getting used to it, it really feels great and it handles like a sports car - just give it, and you, some time.
