anyone try putting a tour pak on the new freewheeler? i wonder if harley is making a kit to make it removable? it would be nice for longer trips.

How would you open the trunk with a Tour Pak in place? Seems that the luggage rack is the best you'll be able to do .

UGH! (sorry)
The Freewheeler, with the luggage rack, sissy bar, and the right luggage bag(s) could probably hold more and it would be removable.
I would be very weary of attempting to mount something like a TriGlide's tour-pak on the lid of a Freewheeler......
However, I think the concept of a trailer hitch setup for a Freewheeler may be worth exploring? If you really need to carry more with one.
I like the Freewheeler because it does NOT have all the fluff that comes on the TriGlide.....
But, if you did want all that extra stuff (tour-pak, fairing, and such) why not just buy the TriGlide?
I understand buying a bike, or trike, and making it your own; but, remaking a Freewheeler into a TriGlide just seems to be .....
Well, I am going to say questionable path.
Anyway, you follow your own path and see where it takes you, you just never know.

i thought maybe harley made something so you could do this. alot of people have the tour paks for their two wheelers and only use them when the wife goes with them or on a trip. i do like the more stripped down look myself. harley is missing out on selling parts here, not that i'm worried about them making money.
A Freewheeler is not a Road King or Softail. If you own or have looked at the rear of a Freewheeler, you would understand. The Freewheeler's trunk lid just was not meant to handle a tour-pak. Closed, it would be OK, but the Freewheeler lid hinges to the side; and, the hinge would not take the load very well when swung open. Even with the luggage rack, the load is meant to be removed for accessing the trunk.
I like the luggage rack and sissy-bar combo as I think it would allow even more storage than a tour-pak, with the appropriate soft bag(s).
But, who knows, if you can generate enough interest........

Sprimgman2007, I was specifically referring to your remark "But, if you did want all that extra stuff (tour-pak, fairing, and such) why not just buy the TriGlide?" Whether a tour pak becomes available for the model remains to be seen. I the meantime, versatility could be the Freewheelers edge.

even on top of my ultra tour pac I use a soft roll bag . looks good and holds a lot. I have finally gotten the wife trained to pack less. of course this too costs more as you have to buy more while on the road.
how about a bracket where the tour pak slides on and off. maybe make in mount in the same holes as the luggage rack, that way you could slide if off and on when you need to get in the box. the only time i would use it is when traveling anyway. just kicking around some ideas.
One man's fluff is another man's essentials. You probably could do it but it doesn't look like there is a lot of structure near the top of the FWtrunk. Where you would need to mount the TP.
