Freewheeler Body Removal?

Anybody removed theirs yet or checked to see how big of a job it would be?

Thinking about getting some airbrush work done this winter and the artist would prefer to have just the body parts to work on. I haven't been able to get under mine yet to see how many bolts hold it on.

Haven't read that part of the service manual but pretty sure it's easier than the Tri Glide was. And that wasn't too hard.

I realize this is pretty late to the game, but I just pulled the body off mine to finish the exhaust work on it so I didn't have to fight with that %$*(@%&(@$% rear muffler hanger bolt anymore.

There's 4 bolts in the bottom of the trunk, 2 bolts in the back wall of the trunk (towards the top), and 2 bolts in the sides under the side panels. Then you unplug the connector under the seat at the back (runs left to right, back by the seat screw) and that unhooks all the wiring for the lights.

BE CAREFUL when you lift it off, as the "hooked" lower valance (sp?) of the trunk is actually wrapped around the rear cross bar, and you have to rotate it up and back, then drop it down quite a bit, then move straight backwards to get it off.

I removed mine to paint and busted the weld on the nut that attaches to the frame. It happened on the rear 2 bolts. I just used a nylon insert nut to replace it.
