Hi Gang,
Have just completed my 690 mile round trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
So here is the results from my trip. Again, I had installed Redline 20/60, UltraCooler, and the SuperTuner using HD's Police MAP.
Average outside temp through the desert was 85 degrees.
Oil Temp did not exceed 200/210 degrees.
Upon entering Vegas into traffic, during the stop and go the temp reached 230 degrees (this after riding from Baker). Outside temp at 86 degrees.
Bike ran best it ever has. Set cruse control for 78 MPH (6th gear) and bike handled the grades better than expected. In fact only had to downshift once!
Fuel mileage was weak, but considering the way it ran and the fact the oil temp was at an all time low, who cares. Highway average at 75 MPH flat roads was 29/30 MPG. Did have a low of 24 MPG when running the grades.
Finally made a long trip without the breather saturating the air filter with oil! HOORAY!!
Now the real test will be in temps over 100 degrees!!??
Riding back to Laughlin for the RiverRun next Thursday (appears may be a rainy day?) and will see if I get the same results!
Oh ya, outside engine heat still very hot!
By the way, the speed issue in my previous post was actually just this old man's lack of brain cells.
