    Default Heater in Stallion

Does the Stallion have a heater without the A/C installed or do you have to have the A/C to enjoy the benefits of a heater?

I believe the heat and air are one package due to the cost to run the venting.

I guess that makes sense. I wonder if there is anyone out there who has purchased the "unloaded" Stallion without the A/C that could verify that, it would be good to know, though I have a bad feeling that Mattel is right.

Any pictures of the interior of the new "unloaded" ones, just curious if the vents are even installed in the side walls or under the steering wheel.

    Thanks,

I would not fret too much. With a little effort I bet you can buy the heater core and put in a vent and fan for heat only. That is the easy one. Ford ranger parts and a standard vent, and you are cooking.

That is probably a good solution Mattel. I wasn't too worried about having A/C, but having the heater here in north Florida in the winter time would definitely be a plus. Probably help on the gas mileage a bit also by not having the A/C.

How effective is the heat and air conditioning in the stallion? Is it worth the $3895?

I have heard from two sources that the A/C gets pretty much "sucked" out of the Stallion at speeds above 30 to 40 mph. No word on the heat.

the heat is very nice in 30 degree temps
the A/C is very nice in 100 degree temps

would I pay for it if I did not have it, maybe, but I doubt it.

in both cases if you tilt the vent as high as you can it will blow into the helmet and the heat is NICE and also will keep the face mask defrosted.
with the heat and A/C you can feel them in the helmet up to 80MPH, the passenger, I doubt it.

I would buy all the other extras, they are worth a total of $2,000 or $27,000 for the Stallion.

The Heat is worth it and works well. In the blase of SC heat I do not fell the A/C until you stop at a light, it helps in traffic. The Baker wings do more to help keep you cool at highway speeds. If the two are tied together in the option package, then YES I recommend spending the extra to get it.

During the worst of this winter (in SC terms) I was riding in the 30's, with just an insulated blue jean jacket, jeans, helmet gloves, no chaps, or long johns.

I think Mattel has made a hose connection to pipe his heat or A/C into his jacket. Maybe he can post up a picture.

I installed the soft doors on ours prior to the trip from Florida out to Kerrville, Texas, up the the factory and back and my wife said she could really tell the difference with the heat (cold when we left) and the A/C when we got back to Florida. They do work !!

That does make sense as you are creating a bigger bubble of air insode the trike and the heat or A/C will then fill it. In the summer I have opening the Baker wings to bring air in, I wouldner if I closed them, to allow the A/C for bubble to work in???????

I must run a test case.

I guess that until you have tried them for yourself, you will have to take the word of those who have them. I didn't think they would work either and had put them ln mostly for the rain and wind while traveling. I was pleasantly suprised with how much wind they keep out and how much a/c and heat they keep in.

In TX, I am finding the A/c to be helpful when you are stopped at a light. The Stallion is WAY better than a motorcycle for keeping you off the hot pavement when stopped in traffic.
The heater has only been marginally helpful on cold days. Passenger gets more wind. Best to wear chaps or something as a passenger. Otherwise, the enclosure (without soft doors) has been adequate for me.

That's where the Baker wings or the soft doors come into play, adding or taking away wind from the passenger.

It looks like I found my answer in the following picture. The A/C and heater is definitely in one unit. It does beg the question, however, if a heater box could be installed off of the engine that could funnel air aft to the cockpit area with a fan where the front vent is. Maybe hoses/ducting could be run from it to the side vents instead of having to come from the rear where the A/C and heater currently is. Just thought it might be a solution if you decide to not bother with the A/C. I think Mattel's original idea mentioned earlier in the thread has a lot of merit. The only question now is, again, if you choose to not have the A/C and heater installed from the factory are those two vents still in their present location or is in just blanked off with carpeting over it?

I personally wouldn't purchase a Stallion without A/C & Heat. A couple weeks ago we were riding in mid 90's with a good mix of bikes/trikes. While going down the highway we really didn't need the A/C but when you slow down it sure is nice, the other riders got really hot. We also have side curtains which keeps a lot of wind off my wife and helps retain the cold or hot air around the rider and co-rider. We were in Canada last summer it got a little cool and the heater worked good in keeping us warm. Didn't take the proper clothes as it was hot down south in July & August but in Canada it was cool sometimes in the 30's. I also think the design of the Stallion helps to keep the heat off the rider & co-rider in the summer. Just ride and enjoy it.

Silver Eagle, I am starting to come around to that point of view as well as far as getting it with the A/C and heater pre-installed. I'd hate to get it without and find myself wishing I had gone ahead and gotten it when the situation presented itself that it would have been great to have had it. I guess it is more like "in for a penny, in for a pound", if I'm going to spend that much to begin with...may as well go for the gusto.

Still have plans for that stereo however....

I found that if you place Velcro on the cab light you can place the other on s t shirt tail and the air will blow up the shirt to your face and arms keeping you cool all the time.Or contact Silverdevill for his IDA

I wanted the A/C or heat to work no matter what the weather was like outside the Stallion and no matter what speed I was going.

I used the following pic to get my idea from.
    http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...tallionmod.jpg

I then had to make it work on the Stallion so I pulled the vent out for the A/C and made a wood frame and mounted it to the vent frame, then covered it with Velcro and bolted it down so when I pulled my appliance off the vent stayed where it belonged.
    http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...s/P9120002.jpg

I then had to make the appliance and ended up with this
    http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...s/P9120001.jpg
it is made up from shop vac pieces, both ends are pieces that go on the end of the hose. then there are 2 PVC pieces, the 90 degree piece is easy enough to see but the straight coupler went inside the piece that mounts on to the vent so that I could change the angle more to straight out.

the final thing mounted looks like this

now when I sit down with my wind-breaker on the wind-breaker goes over the appliance and all of the wind out of the vent goes into the wind-breaker.
this worked good at speeds up to 80MPH and temps above 100 degrees.
