Road to Nowhere

If You go into Bryson City on Hwy 19 and turn at the main traffic light in the Old Downtown (goes to the Railroad Depot), just stay on that road. You will finally come to a Super Twisty, No Traffic Road that is 12 miles of very comparable to The Dragon Super Fun. It abruptly ends at this Giant tunnel cut through the Mountain......



.....it was originally intended to link Bryson City to the Hwy 441 through the Great Smoky Mountains Park, but the Funds ran out and it was never completed. There are still "ill feelings" in the Area about it. Few Folks to this day know about this Little Jewel....Ride It, You'll Like it.....

Thats Skuuter. Just spent 3 days in Bryson City before the Rally and did not know about that road. We will get it next year for sure.

Yep, rarely discussed, but really easy to find after havin' it pointed out....

Suggestion: When mentioning a place such as "Bryson City" why not, right after, post a map link to it so one would not have to leave the forum to see where you are talking about? Just from a ignorant out of towner.

Love that Crater (pothole) by the Tunnel Entrance...looks like that Road could be in Joisey!

OOooooops, I noticed this in the early AM, and mean't to go back and add "NC", but forgot.....

....and Doc, the road is really pretty good....there is a Parking/Turnaround Area with a Barricade now, then You walk about 50 yards to the Tunnel. The "walk part" is crumbling up badly now.....
