My first trike...I think

Just came back from a local (100 miles away) dealer and test rode several trikes. One was a new GW with new Champion kit with IRS. The other a consignment 2005 GW with 26K miles and a 2009 MT kit with floor boards and some other extras. It has the air shock rear end with on board compressor and was in excellent shape. The new GW was $36k And the MT GW was $19,600. The fellow selling the MT was selling for medical reasons and is giving up riding. He did the conversion last year. I was thinking I wanted the IRS but the price of $19K is appealing to me as this is my first motorcycle anything. My question to the group is this. Is this a fair price for a 2005 GW with 09 MT kit? The dealer said he would go through the bike if I buy it to make sure everything is as advertised. If so I'll be riding within the next two weeks. Thanks..........Alan

Sounds like an excellent price to me . Passenger (co rider ) will feel more of a difference in ride ( sharp bumps ) than U will with the solid axle. n Send us pictures ...

IMO the 19,600 is not out of reason at all.Although I would be intrested in what options it had on it

You'll find the independant suspension to be a better ride, but LOTS of u-joints and boots to worry about. I think you would just love the hard differential MotorTrike( what I have), and it is a super stable ride. The price is good. I paid $16,500 for mine 3 years ago, and it was a 1999 50th anniversary edition with 26,000 miles. Your possible new one is alot newer! Good luck, you can't really make a bad choice here, as they both are nice. jimsjinx

Alan that is a good price and the MotorTrike is a great conversion. The GW at 26k is hardly broke in. Those are 200k machines. If you like it then I would suggest going for it. The IRS ride is not $16.4k smoother. And even better to have a dealer that will know the trike.

That is an outstanding price. I think you will find that with the adjustments you can make with the air compressor and tire pressure, you can find a pretty comfortable ride for your passenger on the solid rear MT. I know I was able to satisfy my wife.

Lucky asked what options the trike had. As I remember it ( I've misplaced the sheet I had) it had Kuryakyn plates with a fold out extension so the passenger can stretch their legs, Kuryakyn highway pegs, Kuryakyn cup holder(my son in law said that was the strongest selling point), a complete set of MT luggage, tow hitch, new in box deluxe trike cover. There may be more but I forget. The main thing is that the trike looks like it has been well cared for. Oh the bike is a 30 year anniversary model. I hope this deal goes through.............Alan

Here's hoping you get it , you wont be dissatisfied at all, I sometimes miss two wheels but don't miss picking it up or making a fool out of myself in a parade. Converted to MT in 2006 and wouldn't go back. Lots of fun to be had and you can out-corner a two wheeler anyday too!
Like you, I did a bunch of research when I was looking to convert and each of the trikes have their own weak points but they are all equally nice and fun to ride. Your price sounds like a deal to me and as stated, it is nice to have a trike builder who stands behind their product.
