Lehman Trikes releases new Storm based on Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Motorcycle

Lehman Trikes unveiled their latest trike concept at the Kawasaki Dealer Meeting back in October 5-6, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV. The new trike conversion, based on the Kawasaki Vulcan 900, was on display for dealers to view and share their comments with Kawasaki and Lehman Trikes.

The new Storm is now being released as a Factory Conversion available through select Authorized Lehman Dealers starting April 2011. Already it has been selected by PowerSports Business for the Nifty 50 Award as one of the motorcycle industry’s top new products!

The Storm is designed with the entry level rider in mind and features Lehman’s Genuine “No Lean” Suspension, a specially designed front end rake and adjustable steering damper for easy handling, spacious and lockable 2.5 cu. ft. trunk for helmets and other belongings, and adjustable rear air suspension for ride comfort. Every Storm is factory painted and assembled at Lehman Trikes in Spearfish, SD to meet all requirements for US D.O.T. compliance.

Development, Features, Specifications…

1. Why was the Kawasaki® Vulcan 900® selected as the newest Lehman product?

The Vulcan 900® is the perfect cruiser platform for an entry level trike. The liquid cooled 903 cc liquid cooled V-twin provides over 58 lb.-ft. of torque at 3500 rpm, which is extraordinary for its size and provides ample power for the trike. The ride and feel of the trike is actually comparable to larger machines, so it provides an experience that goes beyond “entry-level”.

2. How was the Storm developed?

Lehman Trikes® conducted extensive testing in the development of the Storm, including but not limited to:

* Computer-aided modeling and stress analysis verified by on-road data acquisition Computer modeling and on-road testing for optimal steering geometry
* Load frame testing on chassis
* Brake testing to federal compliance requirements
* EPA emissions and noise testing
* Extensive accelerated endurance testing
* Fully tested to NHTSA / D.O.T. compliance standards

Please Note: Lehman Trikes® is a registered Alterer with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

3. What makes Lehman Trikes the leading choice of motorcycle manufacturers?

Lehman Trikes® has over 25 years experience in trike development and refinement of our “No Lean” design principles. This is most simply summarized by the acronym S.M.A.R.T.:

* Stability – superior cornering and high-speed control without the need for corrective anti-sway devices.
* Motorcycle Suspension – utilizes motorcycle components and technology for optimal range of motion and smooth ride.
* Agility – Maximum roll resistance delivers responsive and immediate handling for emergency avoidance maneuvers.
* Reliability – built to last, requiring minimal maintenance for extended time on the road, not in the shop.
* Testing – refined and tested in cooperation with motorcycle OEMs enduring over 1.5 million miles of rigorous design testing.

4. Who is the target buyer for the Storm?

The Storm provides a new level of comfort and convenience in the entry-level trike segment. It offers improved rider and passenger comfort, more trunk capacity, air-adjustable suspension, and has lighter steering and is easier to ride.

Our entry level trikes are often the first motorcycle experience from the “driver” seat for many buyers. Well over 1/3 of our customers in this segment are also female.

The Storm delivers exceptional style that flows from fender to fender, designed by world renowned bike-builder and designer, Michael Prugh, 2012 Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame inductee.
