Does anyone have the service, supplements, parts and wiring manual part numbers? I have only 1,000 miles on my trike and have a problem that the dealer can't find and fix. I think I'm going to have to do my own service. Buying a new bike is supposed to be a pleasent experience. Not having an unexplained problem right off the bat.

The machine is under warantee, take the trike to another Harley dealer. Maybe another set of eyes can see what your present dealer can not.

1000 miles tell them if they can't fix it to give you another one. its there problem not yours you have a 2 year warranty.

I have a intermittant heavy rattle under the left side of the bike front of the tire.for some reason it subsides to faint as it's ridden for a while.some times it doesn't do it at all.It seems to be high up in the body. It's even done it when idling warming up but not all the time. when it happens it's really distinct. for some reason the service people that have ridden the bike numerous times say thay can't hear what I'm discribing. I'm wondering if they don't want to hear it. they say how do you fix a rattle that they can't hear. I left the bike with them for a week , and , nothing ! I've even gotten under the bike and checked all the fasteners which are tight. I did the rubber hammer thing also. It's definitely not the exhaust. My wife even heard it when she rode with me. I know when something I hear isn't right. I'd demand another bike, but I had a 120 installed with a lot of other extras.as far as another dealer, the only one isn't very reputable. the bike only has 1,000 miles on it. the demo that I rode before I bought the bike didn't have the problem. The reason I'm looking for manuals is that I've been a mechanic all my life and don't like to be dependant on someone. I have a 99 softail and have maintained it myself. as you can see by the length of this posting I'm really upset to say the least. any ideas guys? thanks

I'm assuming you had a 120R installed, what did they tune it with when they installed the new engine, what exhaust are you running? Are you familiar with the sound of pinging in a HD engine?

Do you mean left side just in front of rear tire? I know you said you smacked everything with hammer. did you try moving pipes (when cold) by hand? I had a rattle recently that was driving me crazy. It was a rubber gasket surrounding rear exhaust mounting bracket (under trunk). Pain in the ass to take bracket off to put rubbber back in place.

Im familiar with ping. actually I can hear the rattle when coasting and hitting some bumps. I'm running Vance and Hines x pipes. I used a rubber mallet on the pipes. they're ok. this sound is a very deep heavy one. I don't exactly know what brand tuner they used, but it was purchased for that engine. I'd be more specific, but the bike is at the dealer and it's in the tour pack.

definitely not the pipes. did the rubber mallet test and tried by hand to move them. yes just in front of the left rear tire. It seems coming from high up. when it decides to rattle when warming up idling,(idles rough due to the 120 cam).sitting in the seat if you lean left you hear it at about the 10 to 11 oclock position in relation to the left rear tire. lean to the right and you don't hear it. talk about being driven crazy !!

did you check the shocks? Maybe the left one is loose.

Moonpilt, you know with that low mileage it could be a loose bolt. All my bolts had vibrated loose before my 1000 mile check up. You name it from the engine bolts and covers to the trans bolts, in fact several trans bolts just about fell out (underneath left side). Harley must have ran out of permatex when they made my trike. Sounds can play havoc to the ears. What is up front? Shocks, bearings, rotors, brakes, fender, fender light. Any of those thing should be easy seen. So, it would be time to think outside the box, dont think you need a manual, just a good set of eyes and some wrenches to tighten up all the bolts and nuts. Got just a little over 8000 miles now and no rattles yet. Just a thought.

Have you had the seat off and looked around under there? Checked the rear fuel tank bolts, console etc? When they swapped the engine they had the seat off, both side covers, fuel tank & console, they may have had the tray the ECM sits in lifted so they could unhook the battery.

Did you put one of my lift kits on? It was reported to us in one case that with V & H pipes and mufflers, the z pipe extension is different than a stock T Glide pipe and they had to put a small dimple in it to clear the axle. They hit when hard bump happened. Just a thought.

I'd take off the tourpak, strip the trunk, and remove side panels and go from there. Also, reverse motors have been known to come loose. Good idea to check under seat. Engine mounts?

Thanks for the input guys. I did get under it and check all the fasteners that I could get at, checked the reverse motor. the upper suspension is difficult to see let alone work on it. I tried to check the top left shock mount by trying to move it with no luck. I couldn't even see where it was bolted on the top.seeing that the bike is new and under warranty I don't think that I should start taking things off the bike. they should be doing that. like it was said I think it will require taking the rear body off so things can be checked in a proper manner. the big problem is after riding the bike numerous times they say that they can't hear the noise other that the normal engine sounds.the're demo bike didn't have the same noise. can I take the bike to another dealer and have them check it under the warranty,or does the warranty stay with the dealer that I bought the bike from? If everything else fails I think JIMMY had the best idea, demand a new bike due to the fact that I have a LEMON. !!!

The warranty goes with the Trike, so take it where you are most comfortable! Lemon laws vary by state so if you google "Lemon law in (your state) you will learn what it takes. I had a BMW 335 lemoned out here in Kansas because of a persistent failure that resulted in my car being in the shop for 45 days out of 62 days.

The issue with warranty you may have is if the dealer who installed the engine screwed something up, HD may not stand behind it because the engine is for off road competition only. If you don't mind taking a bit of a ride, the dealer in Jamestown NY has some pretty sharp folks working in the service dept Jamestown, New York, Buell, Harley-Davidson, Motorcycle, Dealer, Used, Financing.

I was riding the other day and stopped at a red light. While I was waiting for the light to change, some bolts came loose. First the two rear wheels fell off, then my tour pack fell off, then my front wheel came off, then my muffler fell off, then my trunk lid flew open, then my horn fell off, then my tuner fell off, then my rear fender fell off, then my front fender fell off. I think I might have a loose zert joint. Can anyone help me? Did I mention I thought the engine was running hot?
